In today's digital age, where tablet-based learning is on the rise, a crucial skill often overlooked is the ability to write in English by hand. J PREP Inc., a leading English school based in Shibuya, Tokyo, is addressing this gap by offering a one-day intensive course named "English Starter". This program is designed specifically for students embarking on their formal English education journey, focusing on building a solid foundation in writing.
With the GIGA School Initiative, each student now has access to their own devices, making digital learning tools more prevalent than ever. However, the importance of writing skills should not be neglected. It's essential for students to develop the ability to correctly write the alphabet, understand the connection between letters and sounds, and adhere to the rules of writing words and sentences. This is especially crucial for students transitioning from elementary to middle school, who may encounter difficulties such as the inability to write the alphabet accurately, confusion between pronunciation and spelling, and unclear rules for writing English words and sentences.
Recognizing these challenges, J PREP aims to alleviate students' concerns in the initial stages of their English studies, helping them gain the confidence needed to advance to subsequent learning. The "English Starter" course offers comprehensive instruction on several key aspects:
1.
Correct Writing of the Alphabet: Students will learn how to write both uppercase and lowercase letters accurately.
2.
Writing Order: The course will teach the proper sequence for writing letters to ensure legibility.
3.
Rules for Writing Words and Sentences: Participants will grasp the essential rules and precautions necessary for clear writing in English.
4.
Phonics: Familiarity with short vowels and concepts like "Magic e" will be covered.
5.
Practicing Careful Writing: Activities geared towards practicing neat and correct writing will reinforce their skills.
This program is particularly beneficial for students who may lack confidence in their ability to write the alphabet, feel anxious about writing words and sentences, or are unsure about pronunciation. It also serves as an excellent foundation for those wanting to solidify their skills before advancing in their English studies, especially during the critical transition period from elementary to junior high school.
Classes are conducted in Japanese, ensuring that even those who may feel apprehensive about their English abilities can participate with ease.
