Telkomsel Expands 5G Network in Greater Jakarta with Hyper AI for the New Year

Telkomsel's Expansion of 5G in Greater Jakarta Using Hyper AI

In a significant move to enhance digital telecommunications in the Greater Jakarta area (Jabodetabek), Telkomsel is expanding its Hyper 5G network. This expansion aims to solidify its position as the leading telecommunications provider, particularly during the festive seasons of Christmas and the New Year 2024/2025.

Telkomsel is leveraging its collaboration with Huawei to enhance its Hyper 5G capabilities, ensuring that the community experiences premier digital services during the holiday celebrations. The coverage now spans key locations across Jakarta, including the Soekarno-Hatta and Halim Perdanakusuma airports, as well as the centrally located business and government areas around Pantai Indah Kapuk and Monas. With plans to expand this extensive coverage even further, Telkomsel is focused on making 5G accessible to various critical points in Indonesia in the near future.

Since its commercial launch in 2021, Telkomsel's Hyper 5G has established Indonesia's most extensive and advanced network, featuring over 1,400 5G base stations (BTS) across 56 cities and regions. This advancement supports the country's digital transformation, providing internet speeds up to four times faster than 4G, greater reliability, enhanced device connectivity, and lower latency to support emerging technologies and innovations.

Indra Mardiatna, Telkomsel's Chief Technology Officer, noted that the Greater Jakarta region, as a hub for economic activity and governance, boasts significant 5G smartphone penetration and a growing demand for high-speed data. The Hyper 5G network not only delivers ultra-fast connectivity and reduced latency but also serves as a catalyst for digital transformation, aligning with Indonesia's vision for 2045.

AI-Driven Connectivity Enhancements

To bolster service efficiency and quality, Telkomsel is integrating an AI-powered end-to-end Hyper AI approach into its operations. This technology allows for quicker responses to network disruptions and facilitates automated network management through an Autonomous Network framework. According to Indra, Hyper AI enables Telkomsel to maintain optimum service quality across various scenarios, particularly during busy periods such as NARU (Noel and New Year celebrations).

He mentioned that the low latency associated with Hyper 5G further supports the deployment of various AI-based customer interaction solutions. The integration of virtual assistants, including Veronika for B2C services and Ted for B2B interactions, ensures that customer needs are met efficiently, providing innovative and superior service experiences.

Optimizing Digital Experiences for Festive Occasions

During the upcoming NARU celebrations, Telkomsel anticipates a 14.8% increase in data traffic, with total data load reaching approximately 1,981 petabytes. To facilitate customer access to digital services seamlessly, extensive network optimizations have been conducted across key routes and strategic locations involving both 4G/LTE and 5G networks.

Indra concluded, “As a leading digital telecommunications provider, Telkomsel is committed to instilling optimism and positive energy in the community. By optimizing readiness for connectivity, services, and innovative solutions, we aim to enhance our customers' experiences during Christmas and New Year.”
