Since its inception in 1959, the Bellagio Residency Program has welcomed over 4,100 distinguished individuals, including scholars, artists, and practitioners committed to enhancing human well-being across the globe. "The Bellagio Center epitomizes our century-old mission to foster creativity and facilitate impactful collaborations among the world’s leading minds," said Natalye Paquin, Chief Operating Officer of The Rockefeller Foundation.

The Bellagio Center’s unique environment in Italy enables participants to engage in focused work while fostering new collaborative relationships. This year’s cohort of remarkable residents comprises Nobel Laureates, authors, chefs, digital artists, and influential policymakers, all dedicated to addressing pressing global challenges. Notable members of the 2025 class include:

Throughout its rich history, the Bellagio Center has hosted an impressive roster of individuals, including more than 85 Nobel Laureates, and influential figures such as U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and literary luminary Maya Angelou. Each residency aims to ignite dialogues that can lead to innovative solutions for a multitude of complex issues.

Eason Jordan, Senior Vice President at The Rockefeller Foundation, expressed, “The Residency Program is a catalyst for collaboration and progress. It is a space where leaders from diverse backgrounds come together, share their perspectives, and co-create solutions to global issues.”

Each year, about 100 talented individuals participate in the month-long residency, where they can dedicate time and effort solely to their projects amidst the tranquil setting of the Bellagio Center. The emphasis on interaction ensures that connections across sectors and nations are forged, leading to lasting partnerships well beyond the duration of their residencies.

The Bellagio Center is not just a place for work but a hub for inspiration and collaboration, actively engaged with a worldwide network of alumni who continue to impact their communities long after their time at Bellagio.

As part of the ongoing commitment to global challenges, the Rockefeller Foundation has announced the opening of applications for the 2026 residency, accepting submissions until March 24, 2025. The 2026 program seeks innovative projects that tackle social issues and foster positive change. Areas of focus include integrating nutrition into healthcare, leveraging artificial intelligence for sustainable goals, and addressing climate-related challenges in energy, food, and finance sectors.

Sarah Geisenheimer, Vice President at The Rockefeller Foundation, noted, “This program has the power to leave an indelible mark on participants, linking them with other innovators and leaders who may shape the future.” The call for applications encourages scholars, artists, and other visionaries to bring their unique perspectives to this prestigious program, ultimately aiming for transformative impact.
