Delska Launches One of the Most Advanced Data Centers in the Baltics
Delska Launches a Sustainable Data Center in Riga
On April 16, 2026, Delska, a prominent data center operator in the Baltics, officially inaugurated its latest facility, the EU North Riga LV DC1. This cutting-edge data center, which has a capacity of 10 MW, is designed to support artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC) applications, underlining the company's commitment to innovative technology solutions.
The launch event saw over 400 attendees, including government officials, foreign diplomats, leading industry figures, and business professionals. Noteworthy speakers included Andris Gailitis, CEO of Delska, and prominent political leaders like Daiga Mierina, Speaker of the Parliament, and Evika Silina, Prime Minister of Latvia. They emphasized the significance of the new data center in enhancing a secure, efficient, and sustainable IT infrastructure across Latvia and the surrounding region.
During her speech, Prime Minister Silina remarked, "The opening of the Delska data center is a strong signal of Latvia's economic maturity and its ability to attract high-value, secure investments. It illustrates that Latvia is a stable and reliable location for forward-thinking projects." She also highlighted how this project represents the intersection of technological development and sustainability.
The EU North Riga LV DC1 data center project stands out not only for its technological capabilities but also for its recognition in the industry. It received the 'Latvian Construction Annual Award'—first place in the Production Facility, Industrial Building category—marking it as a benchmark for future developments in data center design.
Design and Infrastructure
The facility spans 7,100 square meters and is modular, allowing potential expansion up to 30 MW. Each rack can support up to 250 kW of power, meeting the Tier III standards, which guarantee an impressive availability rate of 99.982%. Furthermore, it is built with an environmentally conscious approach, targeting a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of less than 1.3.
The EU North Riga LV DC1 is powered by renewable energy sources from Northern Europe's wind, solar, and hydropower. Additionally, its backup generators run on renewable diesel from Neste MY. This commitment to sustainability positions Delska as a leader in environmentally-friendly data operations, echoing global trends towards greener technologies.
The Regional Impact
The opening of this facility intends to respond to the growing demand for data capacity in large European hubs, pushing organizations to seek regions with untapped capacity. This establishes the Baltic region as a competitive and sustainable center for digital infrastructure in Northern Europe. Delska's investment will undoubtedly contribute to Latvia's technological landscape and reduce reliance on oversaturated markets.
During the official ceremony, Delska also presented its strategic vision and technological solutions for the project. Industry professionals from Dell Technologies, 11Stream, and Veeam discussed critical themes such as data centers as national infrastructure, AI integration, sovereign computing, and data portability, providing valuable insights into the future of the sector.
The event culminated in guided tours for guests, which offered them an exclusive look behind the scenes at the data center's infrastructure. This sparked significant interest among current and potential regional clients, setting the stage for the data center to welcome its first customers.
As Latvia enhances its digital infrastructure, the EU North Riga LV DC1 becomes a vital player in the region's technological evolution. Through their visionary approach, Delska demonstrates how a blend of innovation and sustainability can pave the way for a bright digital future.
