Latest Updates on 'MoshiMo FES Shibuya 2025'

The excitement is building for the upcoming disaster preparedness event, 'MoshiMo FES Shibuya 2025', set to take place on August 30 and 31, 2025, at Yoyogi Park. This initiative is a collaboration among three organizations:
  • - Shibuya Tourism Association (represented by Junji Kanayama)
  • - Shibuya Future Design (represented by Hideki Koizumi)
  • - Kokumin Kyosai Coop (led by Akihito Uchikoshi)

In response to the lessons learned from past natural disasters, the event aims to promote awareness and education around disaster preparedness and resilience among Shibuya’s residents, workers, and visitors.

Originally derived from the Shibuya Comprehensive Disaster Training (SHIBUYA BOSAI FES) that ran until 2019, the inaugural edition took place in September 2022. Although the event was canceled last year due to a typhoon, the previous 'TOKYO MoshiMo FES Shibuya 2023' attracted over 22,000 attendees, who provided feedback indicating a remarkable 98.8% found it beneficial.

What to Expect in 2025

The theme for this year's festival is focused on translating the realities of living in disaster situations into valuable preparations. Vendors will be showcasing the newest proposals for improving Quality of Life (QOL) during disasters, including the revamped facilities for toilets, food, and bathing at evacuation centers.

Key Exhibits and Activities:

1. Hydrogen Mobility Displays: Exhibits will present electric bicycles powered by hydrogen, capable of not only enabling long-distance travel during emergencies but also serving as backup power sources.
2. 40m Aerial Ladder Truck: A highlight of the event will be the debut of a 40-meter aerial ladder truck. This special vehicle exemplifies the innovations associated with disaster response.
3. Emergency Toilet Showcase: Attendees will gain insights into modern portable toilets and their operation in emergency settings, essential for supporting many during critical situations.
4. Cooking Experience: In a unique engagement, 300 free servings of curry will be dished out as part of an emergency cooking simulation.
5. Disaster Preparedness through Camping: Collaborating with Meitetsu, the 'Disaster x Camping' section enables participants to discover enjoyable ways to prepare for emergencies using camping gear.
6. Experience with “Mahō no Kamado Gohan”: Learn to cook rice without electricity using the renowned Tiger Magic Bottle, which will be demonstrated live with tastings, prioritizing families.
7. Rolling Stock Future: A booth will present food storage solutions and techniques for emergency stockpiling, along with product tastings from ZENB JAPAN, ensuring attendees learn about reliable food sources during crises.
