CNLABS Announces ISO/IEC 17025 Accreditation to Enhance EU Cybersecurity Compliance
CNLABS Achieves ISO/IEC 17025 Accreditation for EU Cybersecurity Requirements
CNLABS, a renowned name in the realm of network interoperability and security testing, has recently announced a groundbreaking development in their capabilities with the achievement of ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation. This milestone is pivotal as it reinforces their commitment to meeting challenging European cybersecurity standards, particularly amidst evolving regulations surrounding wireless and IoT devices in the EU market.
The new ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation enables CNLABS to support compliance with the Radio Equipment Directive (RED) Article 3, which becomes mandatory for wireless devices starting from August 1, 2025. This regulation calls for enhanced security measures for all connected devices aiming for entry into the EU market. By launching its EU Readiness Program, CNLABS aims to alleviate the burden on manufacturers who may face significant redesign costs to align their products with these new compliance requirements.
The EU Readiness Program stands out as a unified certification pathway. It facilitates a smoother transition for manufacturers striving to comply with the newly established cybersecurity standards. CNLABS not only assists in navigating the complexities of EN 18031 series relevant for personal data protection and fraud prevention but also supports adherence to ETSI EN 303 645 standards, which serve as a cornerstone for consumer IoT security globally.
Jayaprakash Kumar, CEO of CNLABS, emphasized the urgency faced by manufacturers today. “Currently, they are encountering what we refer to as a 'Compliance Cliff' due to stringent regulatory requirements. Our EU Readiness Program is strategically designed to empower OEMs in their journey to not only meet the immediate compliance by August 2025 but also to prepare for emerging regulatory requirements under the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) and EU AI Act,” he stated.
This initiative gained recognition from industry experts as it strengthens the bridge between innovation in India and stringent European regulations. Mr. Dinesh Chand Sharma, who acts as the Director for the EU Project SESEI, congratulated CNLABS on reaching this pivotal accreditation milestone. He noted its significance, as the associated ETSI EN 303 645 standard is also being adopted in India as a Code of Practice for Consumer IoT.
In addition to addressing immediate RED compliance, CNLABS' EU Readiness Program plays an essential role in helping manufacturers navigate the intricate supply chain demands imposed by NIS2 while preparing for the upcoming EU AI Act. Engaging with CNLABS at an early product development stage facilitates achieving secure and regulatory-compliant designs.
