Software GmbH Reorganizes: A New Era Begins

In a bold move to streamline operations and drive growth, Software GmbH, the parent company of Software AG, has announced significant organizational changes that will reshape its business landscape. These changes include the independent launch of two key entities, Adabas & Natural and ARIS, alongside the departure of Group CEO Sanjay Brahmawar.

Transitioning Leadership

On January 7, 2025, Software GmbH confirmed the closing of the sales of Alfabet and Cumulocity in the wake of previous divestments in 2023, which included webMethods and StreamSets. This restructuring marks a pivotal moment for the company, allowing it to shift focus toward optimizing these standalone businesses, each equipped with dedicated management teams for strategic leadership.

Sanjay Brahmawar, credited with steering Software AG through a transformative journey over the last six years, has decided to step down. Under his leadership, the company evolved from a traditional software provider into a modern subscription and SaaS entity, focusing on annual recurring revenue (ARR) growth through key acquisitions and divestments. His tenure saw the integration of StreamSets with webMethods, leading to a market recognition of their combined capabilities, culminating in IBM’s acquisition of StreamSets in July 2024.

New Management Team

With Brahmawar’s departure, Software GmbH has appointed a new central leadership team, including executives Martin Biegel, Martin Clemm, Robin Colman, and Toktam Khatibzadeh from Silver Lake, the company’s investment partner.
