Promoting the Utilization of Edo Cultural Heritage



On March 16, 2026, the Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for Tourism will host a seminar aimed at promoting the use of Edo cultural heritage in local tourism development. This initiative supports tourism strategies that leverage the unique characteristics of local regions while enhancing engagement with Edo’s rich historical and cultural context.

Keynote Speech


The seminar will feature a keynote address by Yoshika Yonemoto, President of Rojiko-ya, a company known for producing experiences rooted in traditional Japanese culture based in Kitasenju, Adachi Ward. Her talk is titled "Transforming Diverse Aspects of 'Edo' into a Globally Desired Experience: ‘Performance’ and 'Mechanism' to Enhance Local Pride and Create Sustainable Business".

Introduction of Ongoing Projects


The seminar will also showcase ongoing projects under the Edo Cultural Heritage Utilization Promotion Plan, outlining approaches and strategies for leveraging Edo culture in tourism promotion across Tokyo.

Part 2: Networking Session


This will provide an opportunity for attendees from tourism associations, local municipalities, and tourism businesses to exchange information and collaborate on new initiatives aimed at community development through tourism.

Objectives of the Edo Cultural Heritage Promotion Initiative


The Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for Tourism aims to enhance community awareness of precious Edo cultural heritage and history. By creating opportunities for residents and visitors alike to engage with this heritage, the initiative seeks to amplify the value of these local treasures, resulting in increased charm of the region and a rise in visitors.

Community Engagement in 2025


In 2025, three regional councils will actively facilitate projects that utilize Edo's cultural assets, emphasizing collaborative efforts among locals to safeguard and promote their unique heritage
