Shanghai Electric's Oman Manah-1 Solar Project Achieves Operational Milestone

Successful Launch of Oman Manah-1 Solar Project

Shanghai Electric's first solar power plant in Oman, the Oman Manah-1 Solar Independent Power Producer (IPP) Project, has marked a significant achievement by completing one month of successful operations. This 500 MW facility is designed to produce approximately 1.5 billion kWh of clean energy annually and significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 780,000 tons per year. To put this into perspective, this reduction is equivalent to removing around 170,000 gasoline-powered vehicles from Oman's roads.

Project Overview

The Oman Manah-1 Project has not only achieved full operational capacity but has also fulfilled all performance criteria without any incidents. This initiative aligns perfectly with Oman’s Vision 2040, which aims for sustainable environmental practices and clean energy solutions.

The project was the result of a collaborative partnership with French utility EDF, adopting an innovative approach to address both political and technical challenges. Shanghai Electric provided comprehensive solutions, from design and planning to procurement and construction, as well as long-term operation and maintenance. This integrated strategy has led to a highly efficient and sustainable energy system while promoting global solar technology innovation.
