Timee Partners with Kokonoe Town to Boost Local Employment Opportunities

Timee Partners with Kokonoe Town

In a recent development, Timee, a company known for its gapwork service, announced a significant alliance with Kokonoe Town in Oita Prefecture, along with the Kokonoe Chamber of Commerce, the Kokonoe Tourism Association, and the Kokonoe Town Development Corporation. This partnership aims to create a sustainable work environment that benefits both local businesses and job seekers.

A Beautiful Yet Challenged Region

Kokonoe Town is nestled at the foot of the Kujū Mountain Range, often referred to as the roof of Kyushu. This picturesque locale boasts vibrant seasonal changes and is rich in natural resources. While tourism flourishes, agriculture—ranging from shiitake mushrooms to blueberries—serves as a mainstay of the local economy.

However, the town faces a pressing issue: population decline due to outmigration. As of 2020, the population stood at 8,541, dropping from 13,672 in 1985. The situation has been exacerbated by a lack of labor for crucial industries such as agriculture, resulting in an officially designated depopulated region.

Fostering Local Employment

The newly established alliance focuses on providing comprehensive support to both workers and businesses in the area. One of the key elements of this initiative is the promotion of 'spot work,' which allows individuals to work flexibly in terms of location and hours. By capitalizing on the convenience of this work style, Timee aims to awaken latent labor forces and open up new job opportunities for various residents.

The partnership will also feature seminars tailored for different sectors, aimed at assisting local businesses. These seminars will cover Timee's services and provide case studies from other companies, effectively creating a framework that facilitates the use of flexible work.

A Mission Rooted in Purpose

Timee's mission is to create an infrastructure that expands life possibilities through work. By advocating for the adoption of spot work, the company aims to address the local challenges facing Kokonoe Town and contribute to sustainable community development.

Collaboration with Local Government

This agreement marks the 47th partnership with local governments across Japan, making it the second in Oita Prefecture. Timee has successfully collaborated with 23 prefectures in total, showcasing its commitment to empowering local communities.

To kick off this initiative, a spot work seminar for local businesses is scheduled on August 5, 2025, at the Kokonoe Town Hall. Media representatives interested in covering the event are encouraged to reach out for further details.
