Northern Illinois Food Bank Announces 2026 Signature Events



The Northern Illinois Food Bank recently revealed its lineup of five key fundraising events planned for the year 2026. Spanning across various activities, these events are pivotal in generating funds and raising awareness for the Food Bank’s mission: providing nutritious food and essential resources to individuals and families facing hunger in Northern Illinois.

Each event this year is designed not only to raise funds but also to engage individuals, families, and businesses in meaningful community interactions. Julie Yurko, the President and CEO, emphasized the importance of these events by stating, “When our community comes together, real change happens. As more families face food insecurity, these events provide critical support to help us meet the growing need. We invite our neighbors, donors, and local businesses to join us. 1. Smash Hunger Classic Pickleball Tournament

Date: February 1
Location: The Picklr, Wheaton
This indoor doubles tournament is open to players of all skill levels, featuring recreational play from noon to 2 PM and competitive matches starting at 10 AM. It's a high-energy event, all in support of hunger relief initiatives.

2. A Cup of Hope, Presented by Cultivate Power

Date: March 1
Location: Abbington Banquets, Glen Ellyn | 1:30 PM – 4 PM
An elegant afternoon tea hosted by the Executive Women's Council, featuring community leaders and supporters. The event will be emceed by ABC7 Chicago’s Judy Hsu and will include a live performance by the Lake Forest Civic Orchestra.

3. Fight Hunger 10K, 5K & 1-Mile, Presented by ALDI

Date: May 2
Location: Cantigny Park, Wheaton | 8:30 AM – 12 PM
This family-friendly event includes various race options and a festival atmosphere with a Kid's Zone, food trucks, sponsor giveaways, and a VIP pavilion. All proceeds raised will be matched by US Foods.

4. A Taste That Matters, Presented by Jewel-Osco

Date: May 20
Location: Drury Lane, Oakbrook Terrace | 6 PM – 8:30 PM
This culinary experience showcases local chefs and restaurants, creating an evening of exquisite dining. Sponsorships and restaurant participation are now open for involvement.

Location: White Eagle Golf Club, Naperville | 10 AM – 4 PM
