Constellation Cold Logistics Expands into Germany Through Acquisition of Wohlert Logistics

Constellation Cold Logistics Expands Its European Footprint

On December 4, 2025, Constellation Cold Logistics, a prominent European provider of cold storage and temperature-controlled logistics, announced its strategic entry into the German market through the acquisition of Wohlert and Wohlert Kühl Logistik. This significant move bolsters Constellation's growth strategy across Europe, enabling it to enhance its operational capabilities and service offerings in a key market.

The acquisition represents a giant leap forward for Constellation, introducing an additional 40,000 temperature-controlled pallet spaces into its existing network. Moreover, the integration of Wohlert will provide a comprehensive distribution network across Germany, equipped with a fleet of 150 vehicles for both less-than-truckload (LTL) and full truckload (FTL) shipments.

Wohlert operates two cold storage facilities in Schleswig-Holstein, supplemented by three satellite locations in Teterow, Rastede, and Kassel. These sites also provide cross-docking services, which streamline the logistics process and promote efficiency. The company has historically focused on logistics optimization, offering extensive import and export solutions, blast freezing, order picking, and crate washing services that yield tangible benefits for its clientele.

Founded in 1950 by Willi Wohlert, the company started as a livestock trading and logistics business. Under the guidance of Hans-Joachim Wohlert, it evolved into a temperature-controlled logistics provider. With the third generation, Julia and Jörn-Peer Wohlert, now leading the company alongside Hans-Joachim, Wohlert has transformed into a full-service partner for the food industry. Over the years, the family-owned business experienced substantial growth, diversifying its geographical presence and service portfolio. In the last 15 years, the Wohlert family has continued to drive this development, expanding their freezer storage capacity and enhancing service offerings while maintaining a strong emphasis on customer relations and operational excellence.

Carlos Rodriguez, the CEO of Constellation Cold Logistics, expressed enthusiasm for this partnership, stating, “We are thrilled to collaborate with such an exceptional company and warmly welcome the Wohlert team into the Constellation family. Their responsiveness, customer-centric culture, and high-quality frozen goods and distribution infrastructure represent a significant milestone for Constellation as we enter the vital German market and further strengthen our European network. We are already collaborating on development plans to enhance capacities in Bollingstedt to support both existing and new clients.”

The Wohlert family, including Hans-Joachim, Julia Will, and Jörn-Peer Wohlert, expressed pride in their company’s longstanding evolution and the prosperous business they have built over the years. They share Constellation's values and vision, looking forward to the partnership that will further develop their business in Germany. They have exciting new plans for this expansion phase and anticipate working closely with the Constellation team to kick off this new chapter and drive mutual success.

Constellation Cold Logistics stands as Europe’s leading independent provider of cold storage and logistics, managing over one million pallet spaces across nine European countries. The firm prides itself on leveraging local market expertise while capitalizing on the advantages and capabilities of a pan-European network.

This collaboration signifies a powerful enhancement to Constellation’s strategy to establish a cohesive, top-tier cold logistics platform throughout Europe, while simultaneously laying a solid foundation within the German market. At the same time, it preserves the agility, customer focus, and entrepreneurial spirit that define the locally-led companies.

Together, these two companies aim to expand capacities, improve service levels, and deliver lasting value to customers, employees, and partners across the supply chain. For more detailed information, please visit Constellation Cold Logistics.
