Arclin's Strategic Investment to Expand Nomex® Production Capacity in Asturias

Arclin's Expansion of Nomex® Manufacturing Capacity in Asturias

Arclin, a prominent player in the field of materials science, has recently made headlines with its announcement of a substantial investment aimed at expanding its Nomex® production capacity in Asturias, Spain. This multi-million-dollar initiative underscores the company's commitment to meeting the growing demand for Nomex® paper across critical sectors such as aerospace, electric vehicles, defense, and other infrastructural markets.

Since acquiring the Nomex® business in April 2026, Arclin has placed a significant focus on enhancing production capabilities, reliability, and long-term growth strategies. The company is on track to record unprecedented volumes of Nomex® paper in 2026 and forecasts continued increases well into 2027, demonstrating strong market demand.

Bradley Bolduc, CEO of Arclin, remarked, "When we took over the Nomex® business, we dedicated ourselves to investing in its future. Expanding production in Asturias will strengthen our global manufacturing network, ensuring that we can continue to support our customers as demand grows across various sectors like aerospace, electric infrastructure, defense, and transportation."

The Asturias facility has been crucial to the Nomex® manufacturing network since 1993. With this latest investment, the site will enhance its capabilities to produce Nomex® paper, making it one of only four production plants integrated into Arclin’s global Nomex® manufacturing network. The construction of the facility's expansion is expected to be completed by the end of 2027, with full operational start-up anticipated in early 2028.

Mark Glaspey, Arclin’s General Manager, commented on the significance of Nomex® in critical applications, stating, "Our clients rely on Nomex® paper for some of the world’s most demanding applications, including aircraft, electric vehicles, power generation, and electrical grid infrastructure. For decades, Nomex® has set the standard for performance in mission-critical applications. Building on this legacy, we are advancing technology, developing new specifications, and collaborating closely with our customers to meet their evolving performance requirements and enable new applications. This investment reflects our confidence in the future of these markets and the critical role that Nomex® plays within them."
