Newmark Elevates Mike Whitaker to Group Chief Information Officer Role

In a notable strategic move, Newmark Group, Inc. has appointed Mike Whitaker as its new Group Chief Information Officer, a role that positions him at the forefront of the company’s technological evolution. Reporting directly to COO Luis Alvarado, Whitaker will join efforts with Chief Strategy Officer Kyle Lutnick to propel Newmark’s technology and information infrastructure forward.

Whitaker's primary responsibility will include overseeing technology initiatives across Newmark’s extensive portfolio. His appointment is timely as the commercial real estate sector continues to adapt to changing technological landscapes and increased reliance on data-driven decision-making processes. By aligning enterprise technology strategies with Newmark's long-term growth objectives, Whitaker aims to enhance operational efficiencies.

Sridhar Potineni, previously holding the CIO title at Newmark, along with the tech leadership team, will now report to Whitaker, establishing a structured approach to managing technology initiatives. This structural change signifies Newmark's commitment to innovative solutions that meet client needs in a competitive market.

In an official statement, COO Alvarado emphasized the crucial role technology plays in modern real estate operations. "As the pace of innovation continues to accelerate, it's vital that we focus on building scalable and secure data-driven capabilities throughout the company," said Alvarado. He further noted that Whitaker’s broad experience will be pivotal in achieving Newmark's strategic goals.

Before joining Newmark, Whitaker was the Group Chief Information Officer at Cantor Fitzgerald. His extensive background encompasses over 15 years at Citi, where he held senior leadership positions related to operations technology and was integral to the firm's Executive Management Team. His prior experiences also include leadership roles at Deutsche Bank and Barclays Capital, focusing on high-stakes environments like eCommerce and algorithmic trading.

“Newmark stands at the intersection of real estate, data, and technology,” remarked Whitaker upon his appointment. He highlighted his eagerness to collaborate with leadership teams across the company to not only strengthen existing technology capabilities but also to facilitate advancements aligned with strategic priorities that will guide Newmark’s growth trajectory in the commercial real estate market.

Newmark Group, Inc. boasts a robust presence with over 195 offices spread across four continents, employing more than 10,000 professionals. Within the last twelve months, the company recorded revenues exceeding $3.6 billion, fortifying its status as a preeminent commercial real estate advisor to institutional investors, global corporations, and owners.

As Newmark continues to navigate the complexities of the modern business environment, Whitaker’s leadership is expected to foster innovation and reinforce the company’s commitment to providing exceptional client outcomes. His strategic insights will be crucial as Newmark adapts and thrives amidst the rapidly evolving landscape of technology and data management in the commercial real estate sector.
