Tucows Partners with Radix for Back-End Registry Services Expansion

In a significant development within the domain registration industry, Tucows Inc., publicly traded on both NASDAQ and TSX under the ticker TCX, has secured a partnership with Radix, recognized as one of the largest portfolio registries globally. This collaboration will see Tucows’ Registry segment take on back-end technical operations for Radix’s extensive portfolio, which includes 11 top-level domains (TLDs). Among these are notable newcomers like the generic TLDs (.online, .store, .tech, .site, .fun) and a country-code TLD.

The announcement, made on August 6, 2025, by Tucows, outlines how this partnership is a monumental endorsement of Tucows' capabilities, as highlighted by the CEO of Tucows Domains, David Woroch. He stated that winning Radix's selection reflects the robust capabilities of their platform, which is increasingly recognized as the preferred choice among top-tier registry operators. This venture positions Tucows Registry not only as a technology provider but as a pivotal player in the evolving domain name industry.

The migration of Radix’s domain portfolio is set to occur in November 2025, marking an increase of about 10 million domains under management (DUM) for Tucows. Following this transition, the total number of domains managed by Tucows is expected to reach nearly 17 million. This growth is complemented by Tucows’ previous acquisition of UNR, as well as the recent integration of domains from the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI).

The agreement further solidifies Tucows' dominance in providing infrastructure to the domain industry by offering back-end services to two of the largest registry operators globally. The synergies created through this partnership are anticipated to yield significant operational leverage, enhancing Tucows’ growth trajectory within its Domains business.

Radix, characterized by its unique portfolio strategies, has prominently established itself through keyword-rich domain strings that resonate across various industries and languages. The company boasts over 3.5 million active domains under .online, demonstrating its position as a leader equipped with innovative and data-driven market strategies that bolster global reach and increase renewal rates.

Sandeep Ramchandani, CEO of Radix, expressed enthusiasm regarding the partnership, emphasizing that it arrives at a pivotal moment in the company's journey towards growth. He acknowledged Tucows’ longstanding role as a trusted ally, noting the significance of enhancing their collaborative endeavors.

Together, the powerful blend of Tucows' extensive framework and Radix's adept go-to-market performance is anticipated to provide mutual benefits. As the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) prepares for the upcoming 2026 launch of new generic TLDs, both companies stand strategically poised to capitalize on this impending wave of innovation within the domain name ecosystem.

The essence of Tucows’ business model rests in providing solid internet access through various services such as communications technology and domain registration services. With a vast network of over 35,000 web hosts and ISPs globally, Tucows manages around 24 million domain names, thereby ensuring streamlined operations and a remarkable customer experience across their platforms.

As both Tucows and Radix embark on this partnership, the entire domain industry watches closely, anticipating not only the operational impacts but how this will influence their business trajectories as the digital landscape continues to evolve.
