Experience the Excitement of the Ibaraki Melon Election in Shibuya!
From June 4 to 21, 2026, Shibuya Hikarie, a high-rise complex directly connected to the east exit of Shibuya Station, will host a unique culinary event called the "Eat and Vote! King vs. Queen Ibaraki Melon Election" in collaboration with JA Zennoh Ibaraki and Ibaraki Prefecture. This special summer food fair showcases the deliciousness and popularity of Ibaraki's renowned melons.
Ibaraki's Famous Melons: King and Queen
Ibaraki Prefecture proudly boasts the highest production of melons in Japan, featuring its two major brands: the elegant and fragrant green-fleshed melon "Ibaraking" and the juicy red-fleshed melon "Quincey." Visitors to this fair can indulge in a variety of limited-time menus offered by 22 establishments located within Shibuya Hikarie, where these melons steal the spotlight. From classic desserts like parfaits and puddings to innovative dishes such as skewered melons and savory pancakes, the fair promises a diverse array of melon-based delights.
Participate in the Voting Campaign!
Customers who order from the selected fair menus will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite melon variety—either "Ibaraking" or "Quincey." By scanning a QR code located in the stores, participants can access a voting site. Each vote enters customers into a lottery to win exciting prizes, including a whole Ibaraki-grown melon or dining vouchers worth 3,000 yen at Shibuya Hikarie.
A Celebration of Melon Culture
Not only does this fair celebrate gourmet experiences, but it also serves to promote the charm of Ibaraki's two prestigious brand melons from one of Tokyo's trendiest areas, Shibuya. It is an excellent chance to rediscover the appeal of Ibaraki's agricultural products.
