Revolutionizing Payments: Xryma Plc Launches on ECB's T2 Network for Lightning-Fast Transactions
Xryma Plc, a prominent player in the banktech sector, has taken a significant leap forward by initiating operations on the European Central Bank’s (ECB) T2 Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) network. This innovative system is set to transform how cross-border euro payments are processed, achieving settlements in seconds rather than days, which has truly been a revolutionary progress in the financial technology sphere.
As a regulated banking group, Xryma provides a variety of services such as cross-border open banking and international transactional banking. The company's services include the provision of real-time payment solutions across the EU and the UK. By successfully connecting to the T2 network and utilizing its own Bank Identifier Code (BIC), ISEMCY22XXX, Xryma can now offer its clients quick and efficient euro transfers. This landmark achievement places Xryma among the first non-bank payment service providers (PSPs) to gain direct access to the ECB's T2 infrastructure, representing an essential milestone in the company's growth trajectory and the broader banktech industry.
The T2 system marks a pivotal advancement over older correspondent banking methods, bypassing traditional SWIFT networks which often result in delays of three to five business days. Recent data from the ECB indicates that an astonishing 90% of transactions on the T2 network were settled in an average of 38 seconds, with 99.73% of payments processed within two minutes. This efficiency is complemented by the system's capacity for secure settlement using central bank money, which bolsters stability and reliability in the payment ecosystem.
Xryma has designed a robust and comprehensive banktech model that merges fintech agility with a deep-rooted banking infrastructure, thus further enhancing customer experiences. Leveraging two central banks - the Bank of Lithuania and the Bank of Latvia - allows Xryma to manage transaction flows effectively and ensure seamless connectivity. This innovation helps overcome the structural rigidities seen in conventional systems, thereby optimizing payment processing and allowing customers to settle euro transactions within approximately 40 seconds — presenting a stark improvement over previous protocols, where cross-border payments often languished in lengthy processing times.
The operational efficiencies don’t stop there; compliance checks, which often hinder the speed of SWIFT transfers due to multiple intermediary banks, are also simplified with T2's direct approach. Under this system, compliance verifications are primarily limited to the sending and receiving institutions, thus expediting the process without compromising on regulatory standards.
Moreover, the ECB plans to expand T2 to round-the-clock operations, which will provide Xryma with enhanced capabilities to offer instant settlement services to over 950 direct participant banks in the EU and nearly 22,500 indirect participant banks worldwide.
In addition to its integration into the T2 network, Xryma has elevated its SEPA Instant services with TIPS, paving the way for cross-border and multi-currency functionalities in the near future, thereby broadening its service offerings for users.
Commenting on this groundbreaking development, Nikogiannis (John) Karantzis, the Group CEO of Xryma Plc, conveyed that going live on the ECB’s T2 RTGS network signals a pivotal moment in Xryma’s growth. The superior connectivity and efficient operations enabled through this network immensely enhance their capacity to deliver high-value cross-border payments with unprecedented speed. He emphasized that just as SEPA Instant has redefined domestic transactions, the 24/7 operations of T2 will catalyze a similar transformation in international euro transfers.
Underlining the future direction of Europe’s payment landscape, it is anticipated that payment service providers that adeptly integrate the nimbleness of fintech with direct access to trusted settlement infrastructures, such as T2, will be at the forefront of the next wave of digital payment evolution. As Xryma continues to expand its global influence and redefine payment paradigms, it stands as a cornerstone in the evolving financial technology ecosystem, committed to providing sophisticated, agile solutions that meet the demands of an increasingly digital world.
