The iPadmate Studio, founded by the talented amity_sensei and operated by Olio Co., is excited to announce its reopening for new student enrollment on October 5, 2026. It has been almost a year since students were last accepted, making this an eagerly awaited opportunity for aspiring creatives.

What is iPadmate Studio?

iPadmate Studio is a unique educational institution designed to help individuals complete creative projects using only an iPad. The curriculum includes a diverse range of fields such as illustration, design, video editing, and 3D modeling. Originally launched in January 2022 as Japan's first iPad creative school for elementary students, iPadmate Studio expanded its offerings with the establishment of a second location in Jiyugaoka, Tokyo, in May 2024.

As amity_sensei articulates, many beginners often feel overwhelmed when starting creative work on an iPad. They may be unsure which applications to use or how to structure their learning. "Having gone through the same challenges during my self-study phase, I realize how much time I spent figuring out what suited me best and how to learn effectively," said amity_sensei. This experience has driven the mission of iPadmate Studio to streamline the learning curve for students.

Since launching a YouTube channel in 2019, amity_sensei has successfully garnered over 380,000 subscribers, further illustrating the demand and relevance of this educational niche.

What We Offer

Appfolio

All students at iPadmate Studio have access to the tutorial app "Appfolio" at no extra charge. This app enables learners to revisit lessons and tutorials at their own pace, reinforcing what they have learned during regular classes. This ensures a comprehensive and engaging learning experience that extends beyond the classroom.

Online Classes

With the option of participating either online or in person, students can choose the format that fits their lifestyle. Online classes allow access from anywhere in Japan, while in-person classes are conducted in our Jiyugaoka studio. Regardless of the chosen format, students interact with peers and instructors through a dedicated community, enhancing their learning experience.

Community Engagement

Building a creative community is at the core of iPadmate Studio’s philosophy. The program hosts real-life meetups where amity_sensei and guest instructors join students for networking and collaboration over meals and drinks. These gatherings, along with special events, foster camaraderie and creativity among participants.

Upcoming Special Sessions

• - 2024: Art & Illustration Course with Tanaka Raoh using Adobe Fresco, demonstrating the blending of traditional techniques with digital mediums.
• - 2026: Comprehensive courses on Apple Creator Studio, split into video/music production and graphic design.
• - 2026: An exciting project to create Bond Drops using the free app ibisPaint, welcoming over 150 participants online.

Meet amity_sensei

At the helm of the iPadmate movement is amity_sensei, an iPad YouTuber, art director, and CEO of Olio Co. Born in 1993 in Kyoto, amity_sensei studied Digital & Technology Arts at a British university before launching a successful career in advertising. After establishing the iPadmate kids program for school-aged children and opening the iPadmate Studio, they have continued to inspire learners across Japan. Their commitment to teaching includes sharing experiences at events like Adobe MAX and creating influential publications.

"I want people to know that anyone can create art on an iPad, regardless of their current skill level," expresses amity_sensei.

Who Can Apply?

• - Adult Classes: Open to students from middle school age and older.
• - iPadmate Kids: Focused on elementary school students.

Class Formats

• - Online: Accessible from anywhere in Japan.
• - In-Person: Available exclusively at the Jiyugaoka location (Kyoto is not currently accepting new students).

Class Start Date

• - October 5, 2026

Info Sessions

• - August 22, 11:00 AM for kids and 6:00 PM for adults (interested applicants).
• - Additional sessions on August 30 and September 2.

Tuition Fees

• - Adult classes: ¥19,800/month
• - iPadmate Kids Basic Course: ¥19,800/month (in-person) & ¥16,280/month (online); Level-Up Course: ¥7,980/month (all prices include tax).
