Hanwha Life Launches Financial Education Initatives for Youth in Indonesia

Hanwha Life Expands Financial Education to Indonesia

Hanwha Life, a prominent player in the insurance sector in South Korea, has recently announced an expansion of its financial education initiatives into Indonesia. Building upon its extensive experience in South Korea, Hanwha Life aims to establish a robust financial education ecosystem tailored for the youth of Bandung, West Java. This initiative comes in partnership with Save the Children, a respected international NGO dedicated to improving children's lives worldwide.

The purpose of this initiative is to bolster the financial literacy of Indonesian youth, who are increasingly exposed to various financial risks such as online scams, unlawful lending practices, and online gambling, especially amid the swift digital finance evolution within the country. Bandung is notably one of the locales significantly impacted by these issues.

Target Audience and Program Structure

The program is specifically designed for high school and university students. Approximately 700 participants, comprising high school students and their mentors from local universities, including teachers, are taking part in this transformative program. A unique aspect of the initiative is its focus on sustainability; instead of merely offering lectures, it aims to create a lasting educational framework that involves students, mentors, and educators in a collaborative learning environment.

In each participating school, ten high school students designated as financial education leaders will spearhead peer education activities, with support from university mentors. Additionally, teachers will receive training to become instructors, ensuring that the knowledge imparted can endure beyond the program’s duration. This multifaceted approach promotes a continual learning culture in financial literacy, enabling young people to develop vital skills over time.

Launched in June, the initiative kicked off with a ceremony at the Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), which was attended by notable representatives from Indonesian financial authorities and other stakeholders. Since then, activities have been in full swing, engaging around 600 young individuals along with their mentors and teachers. To further enrich this experience, Hanwha Life plans to bring 20 outstanding university participants to South Korea in January 2027 for an advanced training program.

Official Launch and Community Engagement

Scheduled for next month, Hanwha Life will officially present its financial literacy education module at BFN Fest—an event supported by the Indonesian government that celebrates fintech innovations. This educational package, crafted meticulously for Indonesian students, educators, and government officials, is expected to serve as a valuable resource for empowering youth across the nation.

Prior to the festival, Hanwha Life aims to generate excitement around the initiative by distributing impactful social media content that showcases the experiences of participating youth and highlights the program's accomplishments. By doing so, the company hopes to instigate greater public interest in essential financial education.

Expanding Global Reach

The growth of Hanwha Life’s initiatives beyond Korean borders marks a significant step in its commitment to nurturing financial literacy worldwide. Since its participation in the One Company, One School financial education program initiated by the Financial Supervisory Service in South Korea in 2015, Hanwha Life has significantly contributed to educating the youth, having reached over 117,000 students across 1,002 schools nationwide.

Moreover, in 2025, the company extended its educational outreach into Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, establishing a financial mentor group that focuses on assisting financially vulnerable communities, focusing on young people and women. The latest endeavor in Indonesia not only builds upon this model but also underscores Hanwha Life’s relentless pursuit to cultivate sound financial knowledge and practices among youth internationally.

A Hanwha Life representative shared insights into the initiative, stating, "We are committed to supporting the youth in Indonesia by enhancing their financial literacy and empowerment. Collaborating with local educational bodies and government entities, we aim to secure a sustained and impactful financial education framework within communities."

Through these concerted efforts, Hanwha Life envisions fostering a new generation of financially literate individuals capable of navigating today's complex financial landscape and achieving greater financial independence.
