The exhibition will be hosted at Hotel Anteroom Kyoto, known for its mission to highlight the ever-evolving art and culture of Kyoto. The hotel actively promotes emerging artists and creators, providing a vibrant platform for their works. The collaboration is a product of shared values, where Kai Corporation, renowned for its expertise in knife-making, merges with the artistic traditions upheld by Kyoto City University of Arts. This partnership aims to bridge the gap between past craftsmanship and contemporary design, resonating with visitors and making a social impact through design.
Background of the Collaboration
Kai Corporation has a history of partnerships with various universities, including Tohoku University of Art and Design and Gifu University. The initiative in Kyoto reflects the company's desire to deepen its roots in a city rich in tradition and innovation. The essence of this project lies in its commitment to not only beauty but also functionality and artistic expression. Both organizations share a dedication to honoring the past while supporting present and future design movements.
The involvement of 15 groups of 21 students from the university’s Comprehensive Design Department has allowed for a unique interpretation of the travel theme.
