RESOLVE Welcomes Danielle Melfi as New CEO to Advocate for Family Building Rights

RESOLVE Appoints New CEO

In a significant move to bolster family building rights, RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association has officially appointed Danielle Melfi as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective July 7. Her extensive experience and results-oriented leadership are crucial at this pivotal moment, as national discussions surrounding access to in vitro fertilization (IVF) and fertility care heat up.

Danielle Melfi's impressive background includes a series of high-impact roles where she successfully advanced policy changes both at state and federal levels. One of her noteworthy accomplishments was overseeing bipartisan efforts that resulted in substantial budget increases focused on family welfare in Wisconsin. Additionally, as Executive Director of the nonprofit Building Back Together, Danielle raised significant funds, amounting to tens of millions of dollars, while leading large teams effectively, including her tenure as Chief People Officer at the White House and Chief Program Officer at AmeriCorps.

Her appointment comes at a time of heightened awareness regarding fertility rights, particularly following significant legal developments, such as the Alabama Supreme Court's 2024 ruling that placed restrictions on IVF. National conversations are further intensified by public support for fertility care from political figures, including former President Trump's endorsement of IVF access. Acknowledging the importance of this issue, Elizabeth Grill, chair of the Board of Directors, stated that Melfi's dedication to enhancing the lives of women and families solidifies her position as the ideal leader for RESOLVE.

“I am honored to join RESOLVE during such a critical time for family building rights,” Danielle expressed. She emphasized that recent events have thrown family building issues into the public consciousness like never before, highlighting the widespread, bipartisan support for access to fertility services. Melfi also stated her commitment to ensuring that anyone wishing to build a family has reliable access to necessary care.

Barbara Collura, the outgoing President and CEO, will conclude her remarkable 18-year tenure with RESOLVE on June 30. Under her leadership, the organization has been at the forefront of advocating for the infertility and family building communities, yielding advances that have positively impacted countless lives.

As one of the oldest patient advocacy organizations in the United States, RESOLVE plays a critical role in championing the rights of individuals seeking fertility care. With Danielle Melfi at the helm, the organization aims to harness this current climate of awareness to advocate for expanded access to fertility treatments and reduce the financial burdens often associated with these services.

Since 2016, RESOLVE’s advocacy has successfully increased access to family building benefits for over 65 million individuals. The organization has been effective in halting personhood legislation that aimed to impose restrictions on IVF, underscoring the vital role it plays in safeguarding reproductive rights. As the landscape surrounding fertility care continues to evolve, Danielle's leadership will be instrumental in navigating these transitions and advocating for patients' rights.
