Unlock Your Future Passport This Summer at DHU
This summer, Digital Hollywood University (DHU), authorized by Japan's Ministry of Education, will host its much-anticipated annual Summer Open Campus on July 19, 2026, at its Ochanomizu campus in Tokyo. As a university dedicated to the study of digital content creation and communication, DHU offers various programs, including a four-year undergraduate program and a professional school for digital content studies.
A Yearly Tradition of Learning
Throughout the year, DHU organizes open campus events, adapting its offerings to the seasons. The Summer Open Campus has become a highlight, featuring guest speakers from the industry, hands-on creative workshops, student showcases, and exhibitions. This year, visitors can expect an exciting lineup of lectures and experiences, including presentations from well-known professionals in the anime industry and specialized workshops led by experienced faculty members.
Special Lecture by Alum Yutaro Sawada
One of the prominent highlights will be a special lecture by Yutaro Sawada, a graduate from the class of 2009 and director of the TV anime adaptation of the essay manga "Hyakusho Kizoku." His seminar will delve into the behind-the-scenes aspects of anime production and discuss his journey as a creator, including valuable lessons from his time at DHU. Participants will gain insight into the nuances of animation and what it takes to succeed in the competitive creative industry.
Hands-On Workshop Sessions
In addition to the guest lectures, DHU's unique curriculum offers a wide-ranging educational experience, melding digital content creation with business communication. On Day 1 of the open campus, visitors can participate in four short workshops showcasing various fields such as 3D CG and VR. Each session is designed as a 30-minute condensed version of a typical 90-minute class, making it easy and engaging for attendees to explore new skills without the time commitment of a full-length course.
Featured Instructors Include:
- - Yoshiyuki Ko-iwa: A graduate and instructor who specializes in character animation and layout at Polygon Pictures.
- - Ayako Yoshida: An expert in mental health care within corporate settings, focusing on communication training and wellness programs.
- - Christopher Hans Eckart: A pioneer in integrating AI and virtual production into contemporary filmmaking.
- - Kentaro Modeki: An innovator with a focus on using AI in the creative process of manga production.
A Gateway to New Adventures
Every year, the open campus adopts a unique theme, and for 2026, it’s “Airport,” symbolizing a hub of vibrant interactions, diversity, and new beginnings. At DHU, attendees can explore different learning paths and options, reminiscent of an airport's multifaceted destinations. This framework encourages participants to reflect on their interests and aspirations in an ever-evolving world.
DHU's Campus PR Project, composed of current students, plans and executes various initiatives to enhance the open campus experience, including venue decorations, project displays, and student consultation booths. They aim to convey the university's unique charm through engaging content that resonates with prospective students.
