PMB and Sharp Rees-Stealy Mark Milestone in New Medical Facility Construction in Chula Vista

PMB and Sharp Rees-Stealy Celebrate Milestone in Healthcare Construction

A significant achievement has been reached in Chula Vista, California, with PMB, a premier healthcare real estate developer, and Sharp Rees-Stealy celebrating the topping-out ceremony of their new medical office building. This state-of-the-art facility spans 75,000 square feet over three stories, aimed at providing a comprehensive range of outpatient medical services to the community.

The topping-out ceremony is a long-standing tradition in the construction industry, signifying the completion of a building's structural framework. This event took a festive turn as local dignitaries, construction professionals, and partners gathered to celebrate. The highlight of the ceremony was the raising of the last steel beam, adorned with an evergreen tree and the U.S. flag, a symbol of hope and the commitment of the teams involved in this project. The beam itself was signed by all project team members, a meaningful touch that immortalizes their collective effort.

Work on the Sharp Rees-Stealy medical office building is scheduled for completion in 2025. As Nolan Weinberg, Senior Vice President of Development at PMB, remarked during the ceremony, "The placement of this final beam is not just a completion milestone; it represents our unwavering commitment to address the healthcare needs of the communities we serve. This building will stand as a testament to the dedication of the hundreds of workers and professionals who brought it to life."

The new facility will include a 127,000 square-foot parking structure featuring 375 stalls. It will offer advanced healthcare solutions, catering to a variety of needs including primary and specialty care, urgent care, physical therapy, diagnostic imaging, and pharmacy services. Located in the Chula Vista Center Mall on 480 H St., the medical office will be conveniently close to adjacent medical campus services and retail amenities, making it an easily accessible healthcare option for local residents.

Mark Toothacre, Managing Partner and President of PMB, expressed pride in the collaboration with Sharp Rees-Stealy. He noted the relentless efforts of the project team and subcontractors to reach this important phase of construction despite various challenges, and he eagerly anticipates the substantial benefits the new facility will bring to the Chula Vista community.

Key partners in this construction endeavor include HGW as the project's architect, Pacific Building Group as the general contractor, and Solaris Community Capital as the New Market Tax Credit consultant. Additional support is provided by Chase New Markets Corporation, Civic Community Partners, and Border Communities as New Market Tax Credit lenders.
