On April 30, 2026, Aoba-BBT will host a free online seminar titled "Why Establish an International School in the Miura Peninsula Now?" The event features Yusuke Umeda, the founder of User Base, and will be moderated by Aoba-BBT's CEO Iwao Shibata. This seminar is part of the "Future Strategy for Education" series, aiming to shed light on the social value of education.
Background of the Seminar
Aoba-BBT, located in Tokyo's Chiyoda Ward, is committed to nurturing leaders capable of thriving in a global society through international education initiatives, including the Aoba Japan International School. In January 2025, Aoba-BBT announced its financial support for the establishment of the Akiya-Hayama International Academy, projected to open in September 2027. This school will serve as a significant project by Yusuke Umeda, who, alongside developing next-generation solar roofs through his company Monochrome, is taking on the challenge of creating an international school in the Shonan area, spanning Yokosuka City and Hayama Town.

Iwao Shibata: CEO of Aoba-BBT, holding degrees from Kyoto University and Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management. With a diverse background in IT and strategy consulting, Shibata has significantly impacted the educational landscape through Aoba Japan International School and various initiatives promoting international and recurrent education.

Akiya-Hayama International Academy aims to provide a comprehensive education from kindergarten through middle school within the Shonan International Village, maximally accommodating 440 students.
