Huawei's HiFS 2026 Summit: Advancing Financial Institutions to Agentic Banking with Key Digital Innovations

Huawei's HiFS 2026 Summit: A Leap Towards Agentic Banking

On May 25, 2026, the Huawei Intelligent Finance Summit (HiFS) kicked off at the picturesque Lianqiu Lake Campus in Shanghai, under the theme "Hello Smart Finance World: Transitioning to Agentic Banking Beyond Digital." This pivotal event highlighted Huawei's commitment to speeding up the widespread implementation of financial artificial intelligence through the announcement of six major initiatives and the launch of the Financial Data Intelligence Solution 6.0 and Digital CORE Solution 6.0. These developments aim to enhance efficiencies within global financial institutions, enabling clients to thrive in their digital transformations and promoting business success through the power of AI.

Key Initiatives Launched

One of the standout elements of the summit was a keynote speech by Huawei's Digital Finance Business CEO, Jason Cao. He emphasized how Huawei's financial strategy has evolved over the past 16 years, transitioning from hardware and software specific to the financial sector towards comprehensive industry solutions. By fostering ongoing innovation in core software and hardware, enhancing systematic engineering capabilities, and developing localized services, Huawei is building a robust growth cycle in the finance sector.

Cao detailed how Huawei is determined to enhance success for global financial institutions through a four-pronged "4-Win" model. Supported by a solid ICT infrastructure, Huawei continues to expand its RONGHAI global partner ecosystem, encouraging collaboration among customers, independent software vendors (ISVs), and system integrators (SIs) to foster financial solutions.

The 4-Win Model and Its Significance

The concept of Agentic AI marks a critical juncture for the sector, necessitating the effective and large-scale adoption of AI technologies. To this end, Huawei introduced a hybrid AI architecture supported by open-source fundamental models to facilitate the scaling of AI across high-value scenarios in global financial institutions. The six core initiatives surrounding scenario planning, architecture, engineering, data, AI infrastructure, and capabilities are meant to accelerate the transition to an "Agent Banking" model.

High-Value Scenarios and Solutions Released

In collaboration with its partners, Huawei has launched nine AI-based business solutions focused on four main domains: intelligent interaction, efficient operations, smart risk management, and revenue generation. These solutions are designed to enhance operational capabilities while also addressing security, compliance, and cost considerations through a hybrid AI architecture.

To optimize data security and engineer efficiencies, Huawei implements state-of-the-art engineering practices, ensuring that token costs are minimized while enabling widespread innovation.

Modernizing Financial Applications

Huawei’s expertise in core application modernization over the past decade enables the systematic development of capabilities in platforms, databases, and operations and maintenance. This foundation has empowered more than 150 financial institutions globally to modernize their core systems, expediting the transition from legacy systems to AI-enhanced architectures.

Furthermore, the unveiling of the Digital CORE Solution 6.0 focuses on comprehensive enhancements in various scenarios, including credit card management, central bank payments, and insurance systems. Supported by applications from Huawei CodeArts, an AI-enabled mainframe code transformation solution developed in collaboration with Stefanini and Sunline, has achieved over 90% adoption, significantly speeding up application modernization processes.

Building Resilience with AI

As the financial landscape shifts towards cloud data centers and more resilient alternatives, Huawei introduced the "4 Zero" resilience value proposition. This comprehensive overhaul of architecture, solutions, and infrastructure is aimed at enhancing active-active disaster recovery capabilities.

Huawei is committed to combining general-purpose computing systems with AI computational systems, ensuring global financial institutions can swiftly realize innovations in the AI domain while establishing a resilient infrastructure for the future. The timeline for this transformation is ambitious, with Huawei targeting to train over 10,000 interdisciplinary experts in finance and AI within the next three years.

In summary, the HiFS 2026 summit has set the stage for a significant shift in how financial institutions can leverage digital finance solutions to foster efficiencies and improve overall operational effectiveness. With an ongoing commitment to innovation and collaboration, Huawei is not just observing trends in financial technology – it is actively shaping them.
