Umekoji Potel KYOTO, managed by JR West Hotels in the heart of Kyoto, is set to host a delightful event in collaboration with Cow Soap Co. on July 11 and 12, 2026. This engaging event, named "Wakuwaku Soap Shaping Experience," promises a memorable time for families and individuals alike, allowing participants to create their own unique soap shapes while enjoying the gentle scents reminiscent of the beloved Cow Soap.

What to Expect


Participants can look forward to a hands-on experience that welcomes everyone from young children to adults. Attendees will have everything they need, including tools and materials, provided on site, allowing for a hassle-free experience. Each session will take about 20 minutes, and you can drop by anytime between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM, with the last admittance at 4:30 PM.

The location is conveniently situated just a short walk from Umekoji Park, near the Kyoto Railway Museum and the Kyoto Aquarium, making it a perfect outing for families looking for a day of fun and creativity. The cost to participate is a nominal fee of 300 yen, and there's no charge for accompanying guardians. This event has garnered a reputation for being enjoyable for both children and adults.

In addition to the soap crafting, attendees will receive a special gift, including an original Potel logo soap in a red box (not for sale) and a set of original handwashing sheets from Cow Soap.

Don’t miss the limited-time latte art service during the event days at Cafe Polum on the first floor of Umekoji Potel. Order a café latte, and enjoy a special “cow” latte art for just 650 yen, turning your everyday drink into a delightful treat. The event will take place in the multi-purpose space on the second floor of Umekoji Potel KYOTO, known as "Blank.” This cozy space is equipped with toys and picture books, providing a relaxation area for families with small children.

For guests enjoying their stay, Umekoji Potel KYOTO also offers a unique on-site bathhouse, the Umekoji Sento Poteyu, designed to be a communal retreat where visitors can relax and unwind after a day of explorations.
