2. Philosophy and Art Conference with Yuk Hui
Date: May 3, 2026, from 14:00 to 16:00
Venue: Yamaguchi Center for Arts and Media (YCAM)
Speaker: Yuk Hui (philosopher & Professor at Erasmus University Rotterdam)
Yuk Hui will present a talk titled “The Role of Art and Philosophy in the Future,” emphasizing how art plays a crucial role in navigating unpredictability and fostering innovative thinking.

Both events are part of the larger project, Dialogue on Art and Technology (DAT), which seeks to nurture specialists in media arts and digital technology, preparing them for future challenges in the cultural sector.

DAT Initiative Overview



The DAT initiative aims to develop professionals who can contribute to the sustainable growth of the art and technology sectors in Japan. By providing a comprehensive educational framework that includes workshops, lectures, and exhibitions, the program promotes critical dialogue and offers a platform for emerging talents.

Structure of the Concept Building Course


- Total Sessions: 7 main sessions + 1 special session
- Archaeology Centered Archive Viewing: Open for participants after each session (special session excluded).
- Topics Covered: The impact of digital media on societal change, the international trends within the art scene, and the historical context of art's evolution alongside technology.
