Celebrate the Fukushima Fair 2023 at Jojoen

In response to overwhelming demand, Jojoen is once again hosting the highly anticipated Fukushima Fair this year. This event has become a staple for food enthusiasts, showcasing the rich agricultural heritage of Fukushima Prefecture, known as the southernmost part of the Tohoku region in Japan. With its expansive land area, Fukushima ranks third in the nation after Hokkaido and Iwate.

The Prefecture is segmented into three distinct regions — Aizu, Nakadori, and Hamadori — each offering unique climates and landscapes that contribute to a diverse array of agricultural products. This fair serves to highlight some of the best offerings from these areas, all prepared with great care and expertise.

Outstanding Collaborations with Local Producers

This year marks the third consecutive collaboration between Jojoen and local producers from Fukushima, featuring popular delicacies such as Adatara Pork, Kawamata Chicken, and Date Chicken. These high-quality ingredients are set to tantalize your taste buds, allowing you to appreciate the pride of Fukushima's livestock.

Adatara Pork

This remarkable brand of pork is raised in Motomiya City, Fukushima. Known as the world's only edible national treasure, the Mangalitsa, the Adatara Pork is a unique breed that boasts a remarkable marbling and rich flavor. The pork is fed with a carefully curated diet, including rice from the Tohoku region, which emphasizes the quality of the meat. The animals are raised in the scenic foothills of Mount Adatara, ensuring a premium product.

Kawamata Chicken

Kawamata, historically known for sericulture and silk weaving, has its roots in the Edo period where it became famous for cockfighting. The local farmers adapted this breed into the delightful Kawamata Chicken, enhancing its flavor for culinary purposes. Its long rearing period results in deeply rich flavors and a firm texture. As you bite into the meat, the authentic taste will surely unfold in your mouth.

Date Chicken

Hailing from the city of Date, recognized as the birthplace of the Date clan, this specialty chicken is bred from a mix of native French breeds. The meat strikes a perfect balance — not too tough yet not overly tender — providing a superior texture that chefs nationwide adore. Its rich flavor simply shines, making it a cherished ingredient in numerous culinary creations.
