Overview of Yamaha Music Academy's 2026 Master Class Piano Program
The Yamaha Music Promotion Foundation, located in Meguro, Tokyo, has announced its recruitment for the 2026 Yamaha Master Class Piano Program. This esteemed program will accept applications from December 10, 2025, to January 12, 2026.
Initiated in 1988 under the vision of the renowned cellist Mstislav Rostropovich, the Yamaha Master Class is designed for exceptionally talented students, providing an environment conducive to achieving high aspirations and enhancing performance skills. Under the guidance of diverse musicians and educators, including the esteemed Vera Gornostayeva, many alumni have gone on to achieve remarkable success in international music competitions, establishing themselves in the music world.
For the 2026 program, the Yamaha Music Academy is looking for a limited number of new students. Applicants must be in grades three through ten as of April 2, 2026, and are welcome to audition regardless of their current enrollment at Yamaha Music School. This is a unique opportunity for aspiring professional musicians who possess both talent and passion for music.
Goal of the Yamaha Master Class
The program aims to cultivate the necessary skills for students to thrive as professional musicians. While enrolled in the Piano Special Course, students will focus on becoming finalists in the junior category of international competitions. Moreover, the program provides pathways for studying abroad and winning international awards, ultimately contributing to the advancement of music culture as exceptional musicians.
Program Highlights
For the 2025 academic year, students experienced a rich program that included a week-long overseas summer camp in Vienna and special lessons from international guest instructors, alongside intensive sessions led by supervisor Ralph Nattkemper.

- Must commit to completing the curriculum and successfully passing regular evaluations based on the Master Class's teaching and operational policies. Current enrollment in the Yamaha Music School is not a requirement.
