This recorded data is then communicated to BlindSquare’s app, which provides audio alerts to users, effectively guiding them around obstacles before they encounter them.

The service will be rolled out across several cities, including Miami, Chicago, Los Angeles, Jersey City, and Helsinki, creating safer environments for vulnerable road users.

The integration allows BlindSquare users to receive alerts approximately 10 meters before approaching a hazard, which provides them ample time to identify and navigate around obstacles. Furthermore, the two companies are considering a two-way information sharing process where users can notify when an obstacle has been removed, thus helping to keep the data current.
