About the Program

The idea behind the Tourism Fellow role is to act as a bridge between the local culture and the worldwide audience. Shibuya is a hub of ever-evolving trends and new cultures, making it a fantastic place for tourism ambassadors to convey their experiences and insights. The fellow program aims to work closely with the tourism association to implement PR activities that will further promote the area.

Responsibilities of the Tourism Fellow

Candidates selected for the Tourism Fellow position will engage in various activities, including but not limited to:

• - Promoting the attractions of Shibuya to visitors and tourists utilizing their personal strengths.
• - Assisting with events and initiatives organized by the Shibuya Tourism Association.
• - Supporting public projects endorsed by the association and participating in necessary PR activities.
• - Collaborating with local events to amplify their reach and influence.
• - Attending and speaking at member interaction meetings.
• - Actively participating in community engagement campaigns within Shibuya.
• - Boosting the visibility of the association's various social media platforms.

At the end of each fiscal year, fellows are required to submit an activity report detailing their contributions, which helps in assessing the effectiveness of their roles and the overall tourism promotion efforts.

Important Guidelines

Participation as a Tourism Fellow is voluntary and unpaid, with the nature and content of the work left primarily to the discretion of the fellows. Should the need arise, the tourism association may contract specific tasks to fellows individually.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the following requirements to apply:

• - A genuine interest in promoting Shibuya and the ability to convey its appeal both within and outside the area.
• - Those engaged in the entertainment industry, or individuals with a social media following of over 10,000, or proven experience working within Shibuya are preferred.
• - Strong skill sets in specific fields that enable them to actively disseminate information about the area.
• - Willingness to partake in the tourism association's community tools and events.
• - A commitment to adhere to the application guidelines and a readiness to participate in relevant events organized by the association.
• - Proficiency in multiple languages is a plus, though not mandatory.

Note: Minors (under 18 years) must have consent from a parent or guardian to apply. Additionally, it is expected that any interactions with the tourism association for individuals in the entertainment industry will typically happen directly between the fellow and the association, with managers welcome to accompany them if needed.

Application Process

The application period is set from March 9, 2026 (Monday) to March 16, 2026 (Monday). Following the submission of a dedicated application form, candidates are required to provide at least one photograph as part of their application. The contract term for successful candidates will start the day after their agreement is finalized and runs until March 31, 2027.

Successful applicants will not receive a base remuneration, but there may be reimbursements for travel expenses related to the duties performed.

After the application review, the association will notify all candidates of the selection results via email, though specific reasons for selections will not be disclosed.
