Introducing the Japan Blind Tasting Association

On June 26th, the Japan Blind Tasting Association will officially commence its activities, aiming to popularize blind tasting techniques and enhance tasting skills among enthusiasts. With the establishment of the first-ever Japanese Blind Tasting League and a membership of over 100 wine lovers, the Association is set to make a significant mark in the world of wine tasting.

This event will take place at the Academy du Vin Aoyama, conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from Omotesando Station. Starting at 3:00 PM, the gathering will kick off with an announcement session aimed at discussing the Association's founding principles and its future vision, attracting attention from media representatives and professionals in the beverage and food industry.

Event Structure

The program will unfold in two primary parts: the press announcement and a hands-on blind tasting experience.

1. Press Announcement (4:00 PM – 4:30 PM)
- The association's background and vision will be outlined, including future projects such as the Japanese Blind Tasting League and the introduction of educational curricula and certification exams.

2. Hands-on Blind Tasting Workshop (4:40 PM – 5:30 PM)
- Participants will gain insights on the fundamental methods of blind tasting. This interactive session will include tasting several wines, guided by expert commentary to enhance sensory perception and elucidate the intricacies of flavor identification.

In addition, special guest Hidetaka Numata, the manager of the WINE MARKET PARTY store in Ebisu, will share valuable experiences from the tasting events held at his shop, focusing on customer engagement through blind tasting.

Networking Opportunity

Following the main event, a networking session is planned at a neighboring restaurant starting at 7:00 PM for those interested. The participation cost for this event is set at 6,500 JPY.
