Agility Robotics Launches New Facility in Fremont to Enhance Physical AI Development
In a significant move for the robotics industry, Agility Robotics, a pioneer in humanoid robotics and Physical AI, has inaugurated its new 60,000-square-foot facility in Fremont, California. This development is strategically positioned in the heart of Silicon Valley and is designed to enhance the company’s capabilities in developing AI technologies that empower its humanoid robot, Digit.
The Fremont facility will be the hub for Agility’s software and engineering teams, who will engage in training, testing, and advancing AI that allows Digit to acquire new skills and perform complex tasks within customer environments. The establishment of this site bolsters Agility's existing operations in Salem, Oregon, where it houses its RoboFab manufacturing operations, effectively creating a comprehensive development center for Physical AI solutions.
Agility plans to employ nearly 200 staff, comprising hardware engineers and AI/ML software engineers, who will spearhead the deployment of innovative AI capabilities. The move comes in the wake of growing partnerships with major companies, including Schaeffler, GXO, and Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada. Agility has amassed over $300 million in multi-year orders for its Digit v5 robot and has an increasing interest from more than 30 enterprises that are prepping for large-scale use of humanoid robots in various operational settings.
