Cirion Technologies Announces Major Leadership Changes and New CEOs
Cirion Technologies Announces Leadership Change
Cirion Technologies, a significant player in the digital infrastructure sector in Latin America, has recently made headlines by announcing a pivotal leadership change. The company has appointed Santiago Londoño and Nelson Fonseca as the new Chief Executive Officers for its Connectivity and Data Center divisions, respectively.
Santiago Londoño takes on the role of CEO for the Connectivity segment after serving as President of the division since April 2025. With more than 25 years of experience in the telecommunications landscape, Londoño has previously held senior positions at Millicom and Liberty Latin America, among others. This extensive background is expected to steer the Connectivity division towards innovative solutions and new growth opportunities, fostering a future-ready digital ecosystem in Latin America.
On the other hand, Nelson Fonseca, who became the President of the Data Center division in February 2024, has been instrumental in executing strategic initiatives that include the construction of new data center facilities in Lima, Peru, and Santiago, Chile. His experience as the former President and CEO of Cyxtera brings valuable insights and strategies essential for the successful growth of Cirion’s Data Center operations.
The leadership transition coincides with Cirion's operational separation of its Connectivity and Data Center business units. This restructuring aims to ensure that each division can concentrate on maximizing its value while leveraging Cirion’s overarching resources. This strategic move aligns well with the company's narrative of enhanced focus on innovation and tailored solutions for their customers across a range of sectors.
Facundo Castro, who has been at the helm of Cirion since 2022 and has played a crucial role in its evolution, will now transition to a member of the Board of Directors. Castro has been pivotal in leading Cirion through its carve-out from Lumen Technologies and implementing strategic changes, particularly with a focus on capital investments in large-scale fiber projects and new data center facilities.
In response to his departure, Castro expressed pride in the accomplishments achieved during his tenure and the positive impact made within the communities Cirion serves. He reassured stakeholders about Cirion's promising future under the new leadership. Meanwhile, the Board of Directors, represented by Andrew Thomas, noted their gratitude for Castro’s years of service and expressed confidence in Londoño's and Fonseca’s capabilities to lead Cirion’s core businesses.
As both executives embark on their new roles, Londoño emphasized the significance of collaboration with Fonseca and the Cirion team to accelerate the company's growth and innovate connectivity solutions. Fonseca echoed this sentiment, highlighting the need to build upon Cirion's reputation for delivering top-notch digital infrastructure solutions to its hyperscale, service provider, and enterprise customers—all amidst surging demand for data center infrastructure.
With over 5,500 customers, including government entities and numerous enterprises, Cirion Technologies is committed to advancing technology in Latin America. The switch in leadership is not merely a change of positions but rather a strategic step towards reinforcing its commitment to innovation and exceptional service delivery in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
