CRRC EV's Innovations for Urban Mobility
In a remarkable showcase of innovation, CRRC Electric Vehicle Co., Ltd. (CRRC EV) presented two state-of-the-art fully electric buses during Bus World Europe 2025 held in Brussels from October 4-6, 2025. With a commitment to sustainability and clean energy, CRRC EV aims to redefine urban mobility through advanced technology and electrification.
The Groundbreaking Buses
The first bus unveiled was the premium EU12C model, crafted for high-level transportation. It boasts an 800 V architecture, offering an impressive maximum power of 480 kW and torque of 5100 N·m, enabling it to tackle steep inclines exceeding 30%. With its aerodynamic design and cutting-edge drivetrain, this bus has a remarkable range of up to 550 km on a single charge, complemented by ultra-fast charging capabilities that minimize downtime.
On the other hand, the ED12 is a fully electric double-decker bus capable of accommodating up to 126 passengers. It features a range of up to 560 km under standard city operating conditions. Its lightweight structure, designed with a 6000-series aluminum alloy inspired by high-speed rail technology, ensures durability for over 20 years. Additionally, the bus incorporates a ten-layer battery security system, reflecting CRRC’s commitment to safety and reliability.
The Digital Intelligent Urban Transit System
Alongside the buses, CRRC also introduced its Digital Intelligent Low-Carbon Urban Transportation System Solution. This innovative approach positions CRRC EV as a leader in providing comprehensive solutions for public transport systems fueled by alternative energy sources. The system integrates various advanced technologies such as big data, artificial intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT) for efficient public transport management.
The system comprises four significant components:
1.
Smart Cloud Brain (TOCC): A centralized platform that effectively combines big data, AI, and IoT to facilitate comprehensive detection, transmission, analysis, and application of real-time data, enhancing decision-making processes in urban transportation.
2.
Urban MaaS (Mobility as a Service): A system prioritizing public transport through intelligent route planning, on-demand rides, and smart maintenance. It operates on a two-tiered network connecting metros, smart tram lines, and buses, allowing easy access and efficient transit.
3.
Intelligent Logistics: This component links public transport with logistics, cutting end-route costs by 50% and improving efficiency by 40%.
4.
Green Infrastructure: By implementing gradual upgrades and integrating vehicle-road-cloud scenarios, this platform supports the advancement of autonomous driving, intelligent traffic control, and networked transport services at critical urban intersections.
Commitment to Sustainable Mobility
CRRC EV's endeavors are not just limited to innovative buses; they signify a broader commitment to sustainable mobility solutions. The company’s combined "wind-solar-hydrogen-vehicle" sector generates approximately 32.5 billion kilowatt-hours of clean energy annually, successfully reducing CO2 emissions by 40 million tons each year.
As CRRC EV pushes the envelope in electric vehicle technology and sustainable practices, it exemplifies a forward-thinking approach to modernizing urban transport systems around the globe. The unveiling of these electric buses and smart systems at Busworld 2025 marks a significant milestone in reimagining transportation while addressing environmental challenges effectively.
With continued innovation and a focus on greener urban mobility, CRRC EV is poised to lead the charge into a sustainable, electrified future for cities worldwide.
