Harlem's Fashion Row Annual Designer Retreat Returns
Harlem's Fashion Row (HFR) is back with its much-anticipated Annual Designer Retreat, taking place from May 5 to 7, 2026, in New York City. This event will gather 75 aspiring fashion designers from across the country for a three-day immersive program designed to connect them with industry leaders, providing vital insights, networking opportunities, and access to potential career-changing experiences.
A Legacy of Empowerment
HFR has long held a commitment to nurturing burgeoning fashion talent, and this year’s retreat is no different. Building on the success of previous events, it reflects the organization’s ongoing mission to pave the way for emerging designers through education, exposure, and engaging collaborations.
Day 1 of the retreat will kick off at the headquarters of Calvin Klein, part of the PVH Corp. Here, designers will engage in a full day of programming led by accomplished executives and creative minds. The day's sessions will feature discussions on topics such as "Leveraging Styling and the Art of Storytelling," "Conversations with Buyers," and sessions focused on brand positioning and retail strategies.
Introducing Runway Ahead
In a stride towards long-term impact, PVH has also announced the inception of Runway Ahead, a new initiative from the PVH Foundation aimed at supporting emerging design talent. This program will include an exclusive fellowship opportunity with Harlem's Fashion Row, offering mentorship, resources, and direct engagement with PVH brands to help designers flourish in their careers. This initiative underscores that the retreat represents not merely a fleeting event but a long-term commitment to designer development.
Industry Stops: Behind the Scenes Access
Day 2 will feature what HFR has branded as Industry Stops, a hallmark of the Designer Retreat. These curated visits to various leading fashion and retail companies will provide attendees with behind-the-scenes access, creating direct connections with top executives. Designers will gain invaluable insights into the operation of some of the fashion industry’s most influential organizations, enhancing their understanding and allowing networking opportunities that could propel them into the next stage of their careers.
Exploring Innovation at Nike
On the retreat’s final day, activities will transition to Nike headquarters, where the focus will pivot towards innovation, performance, and the future of fashion. Designers will participate in interactive sessions designed to equip them with the insights necessary for scaling their brands and achieving success in a highly competitive market. Engaging discussions and hands-on learning will create a stimulating environment, fostering ideas and nurturing artistic vision.
Inspiring Lasting Change
"Our Designer Retreat is designed to open doors and create lasting change," said Brandice Daniel, Founder and CEO of Harlem's Fashion Row. "Through our partnerships and programming, we are intentional about ensuring designers leave not only inspired but also with tangible opportunities that extend well beyond these three days."
The Annual Designer Retreat continues to serve as a foundation for HFR’s mission, fostering community, supporting innovation, and facilitating meaningful industry connections amongst the upcoming generation of fashion creators.
