G42 Makes Significant Progress on Developing Stargate UAE AI Infrastructure Cluster
G42 Advances Stargate UAE AI Infrastructure Cluster
G42, a leader in the technology sector based in Abu Dhabi, has reported significant milestones in the construction of the Stargate UAE AI infrastructure cluster. This ambitious project, led by Khazna Data Centers—a subsidiary of G42—aims to establish a robust 1GW AI infrastructure at the UAE–U.S. AI Campus in Abu Dhabi, which is designed to support up to 5GW of AI initiatives.
Key Partners and Construction Timeline
The proposal for Stargate UAE was first unveiled in May, backed by notable global partners such as OpenAI, Oracle, NVIDIA, Cisco, and SoftBank. Since then, the project has advanced swiftly from the design phase to full scale construction, reflecting G42's commitment to establishing a leading AI ecosystem in the UAE. The initial 200 MW of the 1GW infrastructure is being constructed on an accelerated timeline, with G42 expecting the project's delivery to investors by 2026.
Design and Construction Approach
Khazna adopted an innovative design-to-build strategy to facilitate seamless transition from concept to execution. This involves thorough planning and engineering efforts, which are reportedly on schedule. The civil, structural, and architectural works are progressing well, with significant completion of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems already underway.
Furthermore, modular components vital to the operation of the infrastructure have entered production, showcasing a reliable supply chain integrated within the project. Khazna has also successfully delivered all long-lead items, receiving initial shipments of mechanical systems, which further emphasizes the project’s resilience and operational reliability.
Vision for AI Infrastructure in the UAE
Stargate UAE is designed to fulfill the UAE’s broader strategy in expanding national AI infrastructure. The cluster is envisioned as a cornerstone of the country’s AI ecosystem, enabling G42's
