Philanthropic Expansion in Pediatric Care
Tom Golisano, a prominent philanthropist and entrepreneur, has made headlines once again with his recent $125 million investment aimed at enhancing pediatric healthcare in the United States. This substantial financial commitment will add three more children's hospitals to the Golisano Children's Alliance, a nationwide network dedicated to improving the quality of medical care for children.
Significant Investments for Each Hospital
The investment will benefit three hospitals:
Akron Children's Hospital in Ohio will receive
$50 million,
Dayton Children's Hospital will gain
$40 million, and
Avera Health in South Dakota will be awarded
$35 million. These investments are intended to bolster their infrastructure and enhance the medical services they provide to their communities.
With this expansion, the Golisano Children’s Alliance now encompasses 15 hospitals across the U.S. This network is built on shared values: improving pediatric healthcare delivery, fostering innovation, and ensuring accessible, high-quality care for children and their families in local environments.
New Affiliations and Naming Opportunities
The newly added hospitals have expressed their gratitude and excitement about joining the Alliance. Each facility will feature the Golisano name prominently in their identities:
- - Akron Children's Hospital will become Akron Children’s, Golisano Campus.
- - Dayton Children's Hospital will rebrand its main campus as the Golisano Comprehensive Care Campus.
- - Avera Health is set to name its upcoming patient care tower Avera Golisano Children's Hospital, with plans to open the facility in 2027.
Tom Golisano remarked, “All three of these hospitals provide outstanding care for the children in their communities. It brings me immense joy to see how better access to healthcare improves the lives of children and their families.” His commitment to enhancing pediatric care continues to be a driving force in his philanthropic endeavors.
A Vision for the Future
Golisano's efforts are not just a one-time investment; they signify a long-term strategy. Since establishing the Golisano Children's Alliance in October 2025 with an initial $403 million commitment, his total investment in this initiative has surged to
$578 million. The goal is to expand the network further, aiming for a total of
40 hospitals within the next few years.
Erica Dayton, Executive Director of the Golisano Foundation, articulated the Alliance's mission: “Millions of children will have better access to state-of-the-art healthcare close to their homes thanks to these donations.” This collaboration among member hospitals aims to share resources, knowledge, and best practices to enhance pediatric services nationwide.
