Delta Dental Reaffirms Partnership with Disabled American Veterans
In a significant move, Delta Dental has recently renewed its partnership with the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), pledging a generous $150,000 to support the organization’s mission. As the leading provider of dental benefits in the nation, Delta Dental aims to improve dental health resources for veterans, many of whom face challenges in accessing oral health care.
The DAV, founded in 1920, is dedicated to ensuring that America’s veterans and their families receive the comprehensive support they deserve. With nearly 9 million veterans enrolled in VA health care, about 26% are eligible for dental care coverage. However, many veterans remain unaware of the resources available to them, particularly when it comes to oral health care.
This partnership's highlight is the upcoming launch of a dedicated dental health resource page on DAV’s website this summer. This page will serve as a valuable tool, offering veterans crucial information about the connection between oral health and overall health. It will also feature preventive dental care strategies and advice on planning for future dental treatments.
"One of DAV's critical legislative goals is to expand comprehensive dental care services to all service-disabled veterans," stated Barry Jesinoski, CEO and National Adjutant of DAV. He emphasized the importance of dental care as an integral part of health care. The collaboration between DAV and Delta Dental is about empowering veterans to take control of their dental health, especially relevant for those without existing insurance coverage.
Delta Dental has a remarkable history with the DAV, having served as a committed partner since 2017. Dr. Al Edwards, principal advisor for government programs at Delta Dental and a retired lieutenant colonel dentist, noted, "People are increasingly recognizing the link between maintaining good oral health and overall body health. Regular dental visits can lead to early diagnosis and treatment of serious conditions, such as oral cancer."
In light of this partnership, vets can gain access to a wealth of resources aimed at enhancing their dental well-being. This initiative complements DAV's mission to support military veterans, including providing employment resources, advocating for benefits, and facilitating meaningful connections with community members.
The DAV is known not only for its advocacy on Capitol Hill but also for offering no-cost services that assist over a million veterans each year. This support encompasses navigating the complex web of VA benefits and ensuring veterans receive the healthcare they have rightfully earned.
For Delta Dental, this venture represents a chance to tailor strategies specifically for veterans, ultimately ensuring that they and their families have access to essential dental services. The organization operates under the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP) alongside the Veterans Affairs Dental Insurance Program (VADIP), illustrating their commitment to affordability and accessibility in dental care.
Both organizations are excited to unveil this new resource and look forward to positively impacting the lives of countless veterans.
