NOK Partners with Jubilo Iwata to Promote Loggerhead Turtle Conservation

NOK's Conservation Initiative for Loggerhead Turtles

On May 11, 2023, a significant initiative took place at Yamaha Stadium during a Meiji Yasuda J2 League match between Jubilo Iwata and Fujieda MYFC. NOK Corporation, based in Tokyo and led by CEO Masao Tsuru, joined forces with Jubilo Iwata from Iwata City and Omaezaki City in Shizuoka Prefecture to launch an awareness campaign focused on the conservation of loggerhead turtles. This initiative aims to educate the public about these endangered creatures and encourage support for their protection.

The campaign featured various informative booths set up at the stadium, showcasing the ecology and conservation efforts surrounding loggerhead turtles. Among the attractions were coloring experiences featuring turtle illustrations, as well as opportunities for attendees to contribute through donations. The objective was clear: to raise awareness and foster a deeper understanding of the necessity to protect this national natural monument.

The Importance of Loggerhead Turtle Conservation

Omaezaki City is recognized as a critical nesting area for loggerhead turtles, which are classified as an international endangered species. NOK has a strong presence in the Shizuoka region and operates the Shizuoka facility, employing a proactive approach to environmental conservation as part of its corporate social responsibility. This engagement not only supports the local ecosystem but also enhances NOK's connection with the community.
