In April 2025, the project “A Avó Veio Trabalhar” (Grandmothers Came to Work) will make its way to Japan, sponsored by Shukuba JAPAN, a hospitality and tour operation company based in the Shinagawa area. The initiative, backed by the Portuguese Embassy in Japan and the Portuguese National Tourism Board, aims to provide opportunities for elderly women in Portugal to participate actively in society while sharing their rich embroidery traditions. This initiative is not just a cultural exchange; it is a powerful statement on the potential of elderly individuals to contribute to society in meaningful ways.
