On June 24, 2026, Alfred Ramosedi, FCMA, CGMA, was elected as the 93rd president of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) during the organization’s Annual General Meeting held in London. Alongside this role, he will also serve as co-chair of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, a global alliance formed by CIMA and the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA).

Ramosedi has expressed his commitment to shaping the future of finance and accounting by emphasizing trust as the most valuable asset of the profession. His agenda includes leveraging artificial intelligence to drive the profession forward and opening up new opportunities for the next generation of talent in the field. Working hand in hand with the president of the Association, Jan Lewis, CPA, CGMA, he aims to lead the profession through a period characterized by rapid change and redefine its role within the business and society.

Upon accepting his new role, Ramosedi stated, “The decisions we make today—how we earn trust, embrace technology, lead through uncertainty and complexity, and invest in the next generation—will shape the future of finance and accounting. If we make the right decisions, we will not only keep pace with change but define it.” He emphasized his sense of humility and responsibility in this position and pledged to serve the members, students, and the profession by creating a future centered around trust, innovation, and opportunity.

Alfred Ramosedi comes with a wealth of experience in the financial services sector, having spent over three decades in various leadership roles. His career began in 1995 at Nedbank Limited, where he held executive and managerial positions for 15 years. In 2008, he advanced to the role of Chief Executive Officer at Nedbank Private Bank before moving to ABSA Bank in 2010 and then to African Bank in 2012. By 2017, he was leading Bayport Financial Services in South Africa, a company recognized for its responsible consumer lending and financial wellness programs in emerging markets.

A longstanding volunteer with CIMA, Ramosedi has made significant contributions over the years, serving as Secretary of CIMA’s Gauteng branch since 1998. He played a pivotal role in establishing the South African Regional Board in 2000 and was its first president until 2009. Between 2009 and 2011, he was a member of the CIMA Council, contributing to various committees focused on global markets, marketing, and professional standards. In recognition of his leadership and contributions to CIMA, he received the Silver Medal in 2013. Ramosedi rejoined the CIMA Council in 2023 and became part of the Board of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants. He served recently as Vice-President of CIMA and is currently involved in its Nominations Committee and Examination Board for CGMA.

Currently residing in Johannesburg, South Africa, Ramosedi enjoys reading, cycling, and running, and is a family man with three adult children. His leadership is expected to usher in a transformative phase for CIMA as the organization navigates the complexities of modern financial landscapes.
