Experience the Joy of Pole Walking in Tokyo: A Health-Focused Event This Autumn

Embrace Autumn and Health with Pole Walking in Tokyo

As the scorching summer gives way to the colorful hues of autumn, it's time to engage in outdoor activities that promote well-being. The Pal System Tokyo, headquartered in Shinjuku, is organizing a series of free pole walking experience events on October 3rd, 9th, and 10th, aimed at encouraging health and fitness within the community. These events, scheduled from 10:00 AM to 11:40 AM, will start at various delivery centers in Tokyo, guiding participants through invigorating urban walks.

Life in the Age of 100 Years

The pole walking experience will kick off from several locations, including centers in Hachioji, Setagaya, and Nerima. With a focus on safety, certified instructors have selected routes that incorporate exercises utilizing the natural gradient of the city. Participants will enjoy a leisurely yet effective 90-minute walk, promoting a healthier lifestyle.

But what exactly is pole walking? This exercise is designed for muscle strengthening, improving posture, and preventing frailty, especially among older adults. By using poles to push against the ground, walkers gain propulsion while synchronizing their arm and leg movements for a full-body workout. One of the remarkable benefits is that the poles help reduce stress on the knees and hips, making it suitable for all ages and fitness levels.

Instructors with expertise in walking techniques offer valuable tips on maintaining proper posture and stride length. With roots in Japan, pole walking is celebrated for its emphasis on safety and ease, while also welcoming techniques from Nordic walking, which originated in Finland. Experts who have completed specialized training will be on hand to ensure that participants have a safe and enjoyable experience.

In a time when living to 100 is becoming the norm, being able to walk independently at any age is crucial for extending one’s healthy lifespan. The arrival of autumn presents a perfect opportunity to learn this adaptable walking method, opening the door to improved health and fitness. Just grab two poles, and your journey can begin anywhere!
