Discovering Kinfuku and Ginfuku Suika
Kinfuku Suika is a unique variety of watermelon developed exclusively by Fukui City. Its striking golden skin and vibrant red flesh offer a sweet and crunchy texture, making it a perfect summer treat. Weighing around 2 kg, Kinfuku Suika is known for its delightfully thin skin and minimal seeds, making it enjoyable to eat right to the rind. Named in 2000, it embodies the hopes for the city’s economic revival and its residents’ health and happiness.
On the other hand,
Ginfuku Suika serves as a complementary variety, developed as a perfect gift watermelon. Unlike typical watermelons with green stripes, Ginfuku Suika surprises with its bright orange flesh. With a similar 2 kg size and an easy-eating profile, it’s a delightful addition to any summer gathering, enhancing the tasting experience by contrasting with Kinfuku Suika.
