Fujifilm Enhances instax UP! App for Enhanced Scanning of Cheki Prints

Fujifilm Upgrades the instax UP! App for Superior Cheki Print Scanning

Fujifilm Corporation, headquartered in Minato, Tokyo, under the leadership of President and CEO, Mr. Yoshihito Goto, is gearing up to upgrade its dedicated smartphone app, instax UP!™, on March 3, 2026. This innovative application allows users to scan printed Cheki prints™ from the instax camera and printer series, converting them into digital images that can be saved within the instax frame.

One of the most exciting features in this upgrade is the integration of AI technology, which dramatically enhances the accuracy of the scanning process. This means that no matter the color of the background or the orientation of the Cheki print™, users can now easily and beautifully convert their memories into digital formats. Since its launch in March 2023, instax UP!™ has gained immense popularity, being utilized in over 100 countries. Users appreciate its convenience for sharing Cheki prints on social media, merging real-life moments captured on film with the digital world. The Box View mode enables users to layout scanned images attractively for social sharing, ensuring those prints look their best online.

Enhancements and New Features

The upgraded version of instax UP!™ is set to delight users with several key features:
1. Improved Scanning Capabilities via AI - Leveraging Fujifilm's long-standing photo analysis expertise, the newly developed AI enhances the scanning function, simplifying the digitization of Cheki prints, even on tricky backgrounds like those matching the instax frame or on the palm of one’s hand.

2. Flexible Scanning Orientation - Previously, it was essential to position Cheki prints with the wider part of the frame facing down. With the new update, users can scan prints in any orientation, reducing hassle and enhancing usability.

3. Video Transfer Capabilities - Users can now seamlessly transfer images and videos taken with various models in the instax series, including the hybrid instant camera and smartphone printer, directly into the instax UP!™ app. This includes transferring videos recorded with the instax mini Evo Cinema™. Users can view their content in two modes: Box View, which presents a collection of prints creatively packed in a box-like arrangement, and List View, where videos are easily distinguishable with playback times clearly shown on thumbnails.

Continuing updates are planned, including an Album Function set for March 2024 to organize scanned images into albums, and the launch of instax Days™ in September 2024, enabling users to track their digitized images on a calendar. This evolution signifies Fujifilm's commitment to providing an enhanced experience for Cheki print collections and their digitized management.

Future Outlook

Fujifilm aims to further expand the horizons of its instax™ instant photo systems, embodying the idea that “print your memories instantly on-site.” The company is dedicated to keeping the joy of instant photography alive and accessible.
