Get Ready for Fun at PLAY! PARK!

From July 11 until early September 2025, PLAY! PARK, an indoor playground located in Tachikawa City, Tokyo, will debut a unique play experience featuring large inflatable equipment made from the beloved bubble wrap known as "プチプチ®". Conceived and managed by A&B Holdings, the concept encourages children to explore their creativity through play.

At the center of PLAY! PARK, there exists an oval-shaped field aptly called the "Large Plate". This area is devoid of traditional playground equipment or toys, instead showcasing original play structures developed in collaboration with architects, creators, and students from art and architecture schools every three to six months. This time, supervised by Takaharu Tezuka, the director of PLAY! PARK and a professor at Tokyo City University, the installation showcases the marvelous potential of bubble wrap in creating a fun-filled environment.

Introducing 'Let’s! PLAY! PUTIPUTI!'

Bubble wrap is not only useful for packaging; it serves various purposes, from insulation in agriculture to cushioning in earthquakes, and even as a source of entertainment. The upcoming play equipment reimagines these possibilities, bringing two distinct types of play structures to life:

The Wobbly Bubble Wrap

Imagine riding on a swing-like structure while surrounded by multiple interconnected bags of bubble wrap. This equipment allows for unpredictable movements, reminiscent of a serpent, encouraging kids to engage their entire bodies in play. Thanks to the soft yet sturdy nature of bubble wrap, children can enjoy a playful experience in a safe environment.

The Straight Bubble Wrap

A series of large pillars made from bubble wrap will be positioned throughout the "Large Plate" area. Kids can punch, embrace, or spin these columns, using their creativity to explore exciting ways to interact with the bubbles. It’s a chance for children to discover unique play ideas that they wouldn't typically experience at home.

All of these play structures are painstakingly crafted by the dedicated team at PLAY! PARK, prioritizing a philosophy of "not overproducing and leaving blank space." This approach fosters an innovative environment where children's imagination can lead to the creation of a truly unique play space.

Engage in Bubble Wrap Workshops

In addition to the play structures, PLAY! PARK will also host bubble wrap workshops:

Bubble Wrap Shoes

Participants will have the opportunity to decorate their own "bubble wrap shoes" with colored paper and markers, then experience the peculiar sensation of walking and jumping in them. This event is open to children aged three and above and is available on an irregular schedule.

Bubble Wrap Crowns

Kids can twist bubble wrap into fun shapes and enjoy the satisfying sounds of popping while decorating their colorful crowns. Parents and children can participate together, with programs tailored to various age groups.
