Arclin Announces the Acquisition of DuPont's Aramids Business

On August 29, 2025, Arclin, a leading material science company based in Alpharetta, Georgia, formally announced a definitive agreement to acquire DuPont's Aramids business, which features the popular brands Kevlar® and Nomex®. The deal is valued at approximately $1.8 billion and is expected to significantly enhance Arclin's product offerings across various sectors including aerospace, electric infrastructure, electric vehicles, personal protection, and defense.

Expanding Innovation with Kevlar® and Nomex®

The acquisition is poised to broaden Arclin's innovation platform and solidify its standing in markets it already serves, such as construction and transport, as well as enabling deeper penetration into exciting new domains. Bradley Bolduc, CEO of Arclin, remarked on the heritage and protective capabilities of the Kevlar® and Nomex® brands, stating, "With this acquisition, Arclin will unlock the potential of these brands, ushering in a new era of advanced materials that can make homes and workplaces more resilient and secure."

DuPont has expressed confidence in Arclin’s ability to carry forward the legacy of these iconic brands. Lori Koch, General Manager at DuPont, highlighted that they believe Arclin will continue to build and expand the impact of Kevlar® and Nomex® into new industrial applications, ensuring these materials benefit a wider audience.

Strategic Importance of the Deal

This includes expansion into new geographical areas as well as developing innovative products that set new industry standards. The move to integrate these brands aligns seamlessly with Arclin's commitment to evolving its technology while maintaining a strong focus on safety and sustainability.

In total, the acquisition involves around 1,900 employees who bring decades of technical experience to Arclin, further enhancing its operational capabilities. It positions Arclin not only to enhance its current offerings but also to drive research and development initiatives that cater to emerging market needs.

Looking Ahead

The deal, pending customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, is expected to finalize in the first quarter of 2026. This acquisition is viewed as a pivotal moment for Arclin as it aims to leverage the trusted heritage of Kevlar® and Nomex® to redefine protective technologies in various sectors including emergency services and personal safety.
