Yondr Group's Bold Expansion: 550MW Data Center Campus in Dallas

Yondr Group's Expansion in Dallas

In an ambitious move to enhance its footprint in the United States, Yondr Group, a prominent global developer and operator of hyperscale data centers, has announced the acquisition of a substantial 163-acre plot in Lancaster, Texas. This site, located just south of Dallas, is poised to host a state-of-the-art campus with the capability to support 550 megawatts (MW) of critical IT load, marking a significant milestone in the company’s growth strategy.

Yondr’s acquisition comes under the leadership of newly appointed CEO Aaron Wangenheim, who expressed optimism about the company’s future in the burgeoning North American market. The launch of this new campus is a clear indication of Yondr’s commitment to scaling its operations amidst rising demand for data center services in key metropolitan areas, including Dallas, which is renowned as one of the largest and fastest-growing data center markets globally.

In addition to the Dallas campus, Yondr currently operates two data centers totaling 96MW in Northern Virginia and an additional 27MW facility in Toronto, Canada. The company is actively pursuing opportunities for sites in other tier 1 U.S. metropolitan areas and continues its expansion across Europe, where it has established assets in major cities such as London, Frankfurt, and Amsterdam.

Aaron Wangenheim emphasized the importance of the U.S. market in Yondr’s strategic growth plans, stating, "The U.S. is a key market for Yondr's next phase of growth, and our proven capability to deliver reliable, resilient, and sustainable data center solutions at scale positions us favorably to meet client needs in tier 1 markets."

The Lancaster project not only promises to reinforce Yondr’s market presence but is anticipated to generate significant employment opportunities, contributing to local job creation. As the project unfolds, it is also expected to boost tax revenues and provide substantial opportunities for local suppliers and contractors during both construction and operational phases.

Mayor Clyde Hairston of the City of Lancaster welcomed Yondr’s investment, noting its potential impact on the community. He reiterated the city's dedication to fostering innovation and infrastructure growth, highlighting that Yondr's commitment extends beyond operational goals, as the company has pledged to support local events and initiatives financially. "As Lancaster continues to rise as a shining star of Texas, Yondr's investment further solidifies our city's place on the map as a hub for innovation, infrastructure, and opportunity. We look forward to witnessing the development of their campus and the positive impact it will have on our community," Hairston remarked.

Construction of the new data center campus is scheduled to commence in 2026, heralding a new chapter in Yondr's storied operations in North America. As the company pursues its mission of 'Global capacity responsible delivery,' it remains steadfast in achieving its vision of a future without constraints in the data service sector.
