This summer, BUSO BREWERY, located in Machida, Tokyo, is introducing its limited edition seasonal beer: KAGERO (かげろう) Pale Ale. After a successful debut with the spring special HANAKAZE (はなかぜ) Yuzu Saison, which highlighted the local produce from Machida, the brewery is eager to draw beer enthusiasts’ attention again. Just six months after opening its doors in December 2024 at the former Caryon square near Odakyu Machida station, BUSO BREWERY has already become a delightful hub for local food and drink.

Unlike typical summer ales that emphasize extreme refreshment, KAGERO focuses on achieving a wonderful balance between malt and hops, providing a robust drinking experience. The head brewer, Imafuku, wanted to evoke the mesmerizing shimmer of summer heat waves; hence, he opted for a rich yet drinkable pale ale. He remarks, "I hope you can enjoy a fantastical moment with KAGERO, which strikes just the right balance—not too light, nor too heavy."

Collaborative Student Projects

In an exciting initiative, BUSO BREWERY collaborates with Tamagawa University under the Ministry of Internal Affairs' Local 10,000 Project aimed at fostering local industry and university partnerships. This semester, students from the university’s art department are working on packaging and poster designs for the seasonal beer. Each design is an artistic representation of what spring, summer, autumn, and winter feel like in Machida, encapsulating the essence of the local character.

Fans should also look out for the exclusive collaborative packaging bottles which will be available in limited quantities toward the end of July. The eye-catching design is based on the kingfisher depicted in the BUSO BREWERY logo, adding a seasonal flair to your beer experience.

An Exciting New Food Menu

Alongside its exquisite beer selection, BUSO BREWERY has revamped its food menu, which features a variety of dishes crafted by ten local restaurants. This partnership allows for a unique dining experience that perfectly pairs with the brewery's beers. The new dishes are designed to be sharable and approachable for both solo diners and groups, making it easy to indulge in quality craft beers with delightful culinary treats.

Each food item, starting from 430 yen for snacks and sharing pizzas, is made to complement the locally bred brews. Guests are encouraged to stop by and enjoy a casual yet elevated dining experience.
