BOSSA AOYAMA 2026: Brazilian Culture Through Music and Food
On November 3, 2026, a vibrant celebration of Brazilian culture will take place at the
BOSSA AOYAMA 2026 music festival, hosted at the 1st-floor lobby of the World Aoyama building in Minato, Tokyo. This free event invites everyone to enjoy a delightful day filled with music and cuisine that showcases the rich cultural heritage of Brazil.
A Celebration of Brazilian Music
Celebrating its 18th edition this year, BOSSA AOYAMA has its roots in commemorating the centenary of Japanese-Brazilian migration and the 50th anniversary of Bossa Nova. Since its inception in 2008, the event has evolved into a citywide music festival made possible through the cooperation of local shopping districts, the Brazilian Embassy, schools, businesses, and NGOs, all working together to enrich the lives of those living, learning, and working in Aoyama.
The festival has featured performances at 76 venues across Aoyama, Omotesando, and Shibuya, showcasing a total of 228 local and international artists. This year, we are excited to welcome the
Nailson Vieira Trio, a Brazilian group making their debut at the festival along with familiar favorites
Saigenji and
MARIANA MATSUI. Attendees can expect a diverse musical experience ranging from traditional Brazilian tunes to contemporary South American sounds.
Meet the Artists
- - Nailson Vieira Trio: Hailing from northeastern Brazil, this trio is deeply influenced by the traditional folk art form known as Maracatu Rural. Their performances combine the energy of this cultural heritage with modern musical elements, ensuring listeners will feel the soulful rhythms and passion of their music. As representatives of their local traditional group, they aim to bring the vibrant spirit of Brazilian folklore to a global audience.
- - Saigenji: A singer-songwriter raised across Japan, Hong Kong, and Okinawa, Saigenji blends various genres with a foundation in South American music. Known for his energetic performances and innovative approach, he has released 14 albums, including best-of collections, and has made notable appearances at major music festivals like Fuji Rock.
- - MARIANA MATSUI: A talented Japanese-Brazilian singer-songwriter, MARIANA seamlessly transitions between Japanese and Portuguese lyrics, offering a unique sound rooted in Bossa Nova. Her reputation has grown through numerous performances at major events, including Fuji Rock and various events organized by the Brazilian Embassy.
A Day to Savor Brazilian Delights
In addition to music, BOSSA AOYAMA 2026 will serve as a cultural marketplace featuring a variety of Brazilian food and drink options. Attendees can indulge in delicious dishes and drinks from food trucks, including the rare craft alcoholic beverage,
Cachaça. Special collaborative drinks will be available from the neighboring food truck,
Mori no Touban, located near the venue.
The event will also include a marketplace featuring Brazilian crafts and goods, allowing participants to take a piece of the culture home with them. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy food while watching archive footage of past festival highlights at the nearby
Nono Aoyama venue.
This festival is sure to be a picturesque autumn day where attendees can enjoy fantastic live music while experiencing the flavors and cultural traditions of Brazil, all free of charge. This is a great opportunity for everyone, regardless of age, to explore Brazilian culture in an engaging and festive environment.
